Pete and the comparable shaker have a very similar design front end......steering box forward of the axle leaf spring set up on pins. I’m call horse #### where I see it. A man hates a Pete so bad yet he knows there parts network sucks and they are expensive.....siunds to me somebody been shopping.
Common issues is mirrors shake from letting the doors get out of adjustment and slamming them. As stated windshields leak right onto fuse panel. A good glass man and the sealer for it will fix that. If they don’t use the sealer for them they will leak. Spring pin bushings seem to wear unless you grease them once a week which who does. Most of their issues are from not up keeping one. My hood opens with no effort but it’s adjusted right with no slack. I prefer the 127 simply because every thing seems easy to get too......and a little style never hurt no one except a cranky ol FLD hater that’s in the closet bout loving a Peterbilt
Why are long nose Pete’s Preferred over short nose?

Honestly in my likely unpopular opinion i orefer the plastic petes over just about any other truck. Not to say i dont LIKE the old style iron but my plastic pete is comfortable for me. Im over 6 foot and my shoulders are nearly 24 inches across. This makes a lot of those smaller narrow cab hood trucks pretty uncomfortable for me. And most weenys and vagin....err volvo trucks ive used have my shoulders crammed up against the window. Macks are alright as are the new 660s. But the 579 is by a huge margin the most comfortable. Also it has the taller inside roof and a slightly longer door cut which makes it way easier to get in and out without whacking my head on a regular basis.
The fact i can turn my wheels nearly 80 degrees is also a huge plus and its fairly light at 32900 empty with my trailer (by comparison the 379k i drove with the exact same trailer was 34600) its got a lot of room to work on the engine and rides like an oiled snake on glass mostly. The catwalk is a bit wider then others so getting in and out the mandoor on my dump is much easier and lastly a lot of the panneling pops off easily making working on the guts a lot easier. And the wide dash setup makes using the switches comfortable for me. And due to my long ### legs the seat going back as far as it does helps me stay much more comfortable
If this pete had a C15 in it i would say its the perfect truck.LoneRanger and Oxbow Thank this. -
