I've been lurking in the shadows and asking questions here and there and it seems like most of you whine and complain about any little issue and go on and on how everything is some companies fault and not yours.
The overwhelming majority of truckers seem in-capable of taking responsibility for their own actions.
This web-site serves no other purpose than to dissuade people from pursuing this career when in fact it's really not that bad. If you have a positive outlook and can let the ######## go you can have a lot of fun doing this.
*DONE*
Why are most truckers such cry babies?

Plenty of decent folks on this board. You have just been lingering too long in the wrong sections of this forum. I can easily see where you'd get that idea though lol
rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
"the overwhelming majority" of ANYONE not taking responsibility for their actions is rampant.........
parents NOT accepting responsibility for their kids, 4 wheelers' NOT accepting responsibility, the average worker NOT accepting responsibility.........and the list goes on and on..........
show ME where someone can have FUN doing this for a living..........?? it's a JOB,if you screw up , you get biotched at. it can be and very often IS a dirty job, it's time consuming, it tires you out, it wears you down, you can be injured very easily, out no where, no help around, you're on your own for help. it CAN be and often times IS a lonely job. YOU DO NOT get much in the way of respect. your "counter-parts" do damage of one type or another, and by "association", you are guilty as well.
yeah..........must be a "lot of fun"..............

IMO yes there is complaining on this board, and it SERVES a PURPOSE. Newbies and those considering trucking have a chance to see some of the things those in the industry put up with and maybe they can deal with the hassle in a better way by reading of experiences.
EVERYONE knows that ALL jobs have the pros and cons. IMO the trucking industry is just a tad bit fuller of recruiters who will fill ya full of lies to get you into a school or truck. Boss and dispatcher who dont care, cops and dot handing out tickets that are not legit but wont be fought due to expense of getting there etc, how to deal with family issues, shippers/receivers who are dorks etc. People need to know the truth. IF you were to visit a forum say for docs, nurses, cops, maids that was like the TTR you would find JUST AS MANY people complaining about their jobs, it is a fact (IMO) that EVERYONE has at least one complaint about their employment or employer.
THERE are LOTS of threads on this forum that are HELPFUL, NOT full of COMPLAINING and there are also LOTS of threads, comments THANKING the TTR for all the help and information provided. This site was created to HELP newbies and hopefuls AVOID the common pit falls, find answers and be successful. We work very HARD to keep those goals in mind.truckerdave1970, rayodeluz, rookietrucker and 10 others Thank this. -
I hardly remember when I started.. I knew I didn't want to do it for a career but I needed to do somthing..
That was back in 1988 I had just gotten out of the USMC and did 3 years in construction.. The bottom fell out of construction..
POOF! I wound up driving a truck. For the first 3 years it was great.. (back then there were a lot of things that were different from now) Everything was new.. I had'nt been to every state yet and was keeping track trying to check them all off..
Fast forward to present day.. It's just a job now.. (I think I'd rather be fishing..) Gone are the days of excitement, convoys, joking with a bunch of guys all the way accross TX.. BBQ's in the back row.. Your right, now it's everyone for themselves and screw your neighbor.
I don't see it getting any better. Pretty soon we are going to all be so restricted by big government, anti idle laws, EPA pollution guidelines, and to top it off everything you do is going to follow you everywhere thanks to CVSA 2010.. Sorta takes the wind out of everyones sails..rocknroll nik and truckerdave1970 Thank this. -
Sometimes this board is like listening to a Blues Record that skips. "You done me wrong, you done me wrong, you done me wrong."
It is like my momma told me, "Always wear clean undies in case you're in a wreck". Advice just doesn't get any better than that. -

Definitely have been hanging out reading the wrong threads.
Yes there is complaining etc that goes on. BUT, there is also plenty of help and encouragement given on this forum.
This is also a place for people that are out on the road to vent their current frustrations, since there are very few outlets for someone to vent when they are hundreds of miles from home.Texas-Nana and luvmyhubby Thank this. -
In typical truck driver fashion, complain about complainers. hehehehe I think that forums like this are VERY helpful. Sure there is some cryin' about this or that but it is ALL information that can be helpful, neewbes and old guard alike. Ya never stop learning. Some of the stuff that seems to bother rookies bothered me when I was first starting out, I wish I had of had a place to come and try to find out "is it just me" when I was young.
Many times you hear from the seasoned drivers that it is about attitude. I think this place around here is FULL of people helping others out with positive re-enforcement that helps others out.
I personally have used this forum to cull out where I most defiantly didn't want to go to work to places I'd like to go work and went about seeking those out.
I've been driving now for 35 years. There's so much I haven't done yet. I get up every morning put my boots on and smile 'cause I know today ain't gonna be like yesterday and I'm gonna learn something new.rocknroll nik, Big Don, jjranch and 3 others Thank this.
