I've been driving almost 2 years and I have never seen a Texas weigh station open especially the ones in dfw area. Only thing I have seen is inspection stations down by laredo. Seems weird since Oklahoma and Louisiana are always pulling people in
Why are Texas weigh stations always closed

North & South Carolina were always open too when I went thru.
0300, open.
0700, open.
1630, open.
2215, open.
Began to wonder if they ever closed?Texas_hwy_287, Grubby and 4mer trucker Thank this. -
I have been retired for a bit over 5 years. I do not know what the current state of Texas CMV enforcement is. Texas while I was an active driver operated that north bound I 45 station coming out of Houston a good bit. All I can say is woe to that driver in Texas whom thinks they can skate through. The eyes of Texas are upon you!

The ones on I-20 and I-30 in NE Texas are opened several times each week, sporadically. Usually more or less during bankers hours if they do open. The one north of Denison will open several times a year and during national enforcement blitz weeks.
And others throughout the state will never open, and others will open sporadically, maybe a few times a year. They have roaming CMV enforcement teams. -

I'll say that Ive been lassoed a few times.
Give me a moment while I finish laughing. If you think TX was bad, look at AR. There used to be a pair of scales closed for so many years that the signs rusted. They are paved under now and used as additional highway lanes.
There has been maybe 4 states in which scales were a part of trucking, the rest of the USA really didnt matter. With a few notable exceptions like 287 near Raton with portables.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
If my memory is right the last time I was in Houston was during the CVSA blitz and there was inspectors all over the 610 loop especially on the south side.
wore out Thanks this.
