How can you relate this to trying to make our "ride" easyer. It has nothing to do with that and everything having t do with this

You got the response you did here because you come on here accusing people of doing thigs to essentially be lazy when we do something to save everyone alot more grief than dealing with traffic. Read that post and try to understand how that poor guy feels.

Too All Newbies It's been awhile since my last post, But I am here for the Newbies learning to be a Truck driver.....
Please remember what you have been told about looking at your Mirrors every 5 to 7 seconds, I myself was told by my trainer you can relax and look at them on the Highway every 10 to 20 seconds sometimes to get so relaxed that you look at them about 1 to 2 minutes.....Always Predict what might happen!!
I was on I-75 going south pass dayton Ohio, on right hand lane with an on ramp couldn't get over, so I maintain my lane, when a Lady Came on to Highway, Saw the car gave her some Room to get on, she speed up to merge, and out of Nowhere she Slammed on her Brakes and I with an 79,000 lbs load can't stop on a dime , Ramed her, Killing Her.....
A few Good truckers pulled over to help Us and her, but she was Dead, They seen what happen and kept telling me it wasn't my Fault, But it was cause I didn't react fast enough to avoid accident, later after police arrived I was told there was a Sucide Note in her Car and She said she was Sorry but wanted to end her Life, But that Note didn't make me feel better, In fact I have been Reliving that day 6 months later everyday, thinking what if I slowed down or Dumped my Truck in Ditch/or Emer. Lane....Everything that happen that Day has been Resolved, Nothing bad went on My DAC, Cause of that Note and State Highway Potrol investagation...But I can nolonger drive a Truck or a Car without thinking of what Happen......I am Telling you Newbies ALWAYS try and give yourself enough room for anything to happen, and always look into your Mirrors and Predict what could happen, it's not just a driving Job, but a Mental Job as well...."

NOTE: All drivers, no matter how 'good' your are, can face a situation like this!! Dont EVER get too ####y!!

Personally, I don't think anyone should be a cop without five years of driving a big rig - long haul. Then let them go to Kindergarten, to learn the legal side of the law. What truly amazes me is these young "no time in life" "No experience in Life" cops who have a real attitude and absolutely no respect. Not something you command. You get it by earning it. But then, I really can't blame all of them as the training they sometimes get from some of the total idiots in positions of power seem to be totally lacking in common sense "of which is not so common!"

Okay, I am going to be nice now!:biggrin_2552:

Lucky, glad your going to be nice now! LOL I do believe that it should be mandatory for them to do a "ride-on" (maybe it could be YOUR input, call 'em suggest it), I hope squid at least comes in and looks to see the input that's been posted since this. Hopefully he's a man about all this and doesn't hide now that he's been roasted. Maybe he'll think about his comments too, and apologize for some of them. He got backed against the wall and came out swinging. I HOPE he really doesn't think of ALL truckers this way. Good cops/Bad cops, Good truckers/Bad truckers......there all out there.

Good comment though, "Your not born with respect, it's something you earn!", I grew up hearing that - 39 years later still trying to earn respect, you never stop learning and earning!

Squid - you can't attack someone's career, most of the people on here LOVE what they do, their proud of it, what did you expect them to do when you attacked something they love right from the beginning. When they started trashing cops - you did the same thing, you got angry. I just don't think you stopped and thought before you posted. I hope I'm right, but if you are just a "trash-talk" jerk, then I apologize to all the guys/gals on here, but I beleive there's good in everyone - hope you can come back, cool, calm and collective and get the answer you needed.

I too typically stay in the middle lane, usually closest to the right lane so faster traffic can still pass me by. I think its wise to stay out of the far right lane to allow for merging/exiting more easily for others.

If only it were that easy. If we stay in the middle lane, people complain that we go the speed limit and slow them up. If we stay in the right lane, people complain that we don't move over to let them in, not knowing that it takes 15 seconds to do a proper lane change for us. If I DO stay in the right lane, I pick a cutoff point, usually about two cars, and slow down to let them in if they are at proper speed and distance. Everybody else alongside my trailer can go **** themselves if they complain.

Thanks Roadhog! Yep, I have been on both sides of the fence and I know what the world consists of, but then I think I had a pretty keen understanding long before my age caught up with me.

I have known some great cops and DOT agents. But I sure lit into the DOT at the Washington Border (Post Falls) one night. There were three DOT in behind the bench and one in the window. Drivers lined up behind me when I got a non-sense warning for bob-tailing home after washing my truck.

Wasted thirty minutes of my time and all for pure harassment. The Drill Sargent's in the training camps would have been proud of the way I handled those troopers. They knew they had their backsides chewed when I did an about face and walked out of there.

Safety and a job is one thing but the BS many pull these days is not right, proper and is a total violation of people rights; and common sense dictates what should and should not be done; but then common sense is not all that common. Some drivers remember that night about three years ago. I am sure they were telling stories all the way to Seattle or where ever they were going.

Drivers deserve respect. Just because our world is filled with Corporate Greed, Government Graft and Corruption does not mean we have to put up with it and I waited patiently, until this young trooper was finished with all of his BS before I lit into them. I'd do it again in a heart beat and I am about as easy going as one can be. I just can't stand all the Taxes wasted on public employees that don't have a clue.:biggrin_25510:

..in the middle lane?!! Get your butt back over to the 'right' lane and block traffic like your suppose to!! And remember, oncoming 4-whlrs are worth +5 pts/each if you can clip them, or +3 pts/each if you just drive them them off to the shoulder!!:biggrin_25523:

    What I don't get is...

    1. Why people don't stay back when they see a turn signal and let us over. If they didn't speed up and pass when they see it, we could use the right lane more and successsfully merge for people who are on the cell phone not paying attention.

    2. Why don't you guys use that far left lane more? There is so much going on in the right two lanes, why not take a safe lane that is legal for you to get around traffic. Sometimes I just go into because nobody uses it. Then everyone can use those two right lanes without me being in the way. Why can't we just have the lane? Unless I am going to need to exit it is safer and there are a lot of left side junctions that I wont be able to get to because people like to trap others just before them even several miles, and they know it.
