With all the problems of the newer emissions trucks, the used trucks (pre-emissions) are worth the price. The market dictates the price (at least in most cases) and those that know, know that buying a truck with all the emissions nonsense makes no sense.
Why are used trucks so over priced now??

Between 2000 and 2002 you could by trucks for a song, and you sing it. I bought three during that time, a '94 & '95 IH, and a '97 T600, none over 475k miles for 12k, 14k, 17k.

Back last year when I thought I wanted a newer truck list my 99 flat top Pete for $30000 and had a dealer in tn wanting to come give me cash, I backed out because all I could find were 08 s and 9s. Figured I would do better to just keep running her and when necessary rebuild again.

I sold an 05 W900L in December with 1,350,000 on it for $45,000. I should have asked more for it.

Doesn't matter where the extra 25grand comes from to the seller only that we get it. Be it from looks, reliability, what have you.

Bigger factor is exports. About a year ago we started to see prices drop. And if you look at exports during that time they also dropped. Now exports are hotter than ever.
