With all the problems of the newer emissions trucks, the used trucks (pre-emissions) are worth the price. The market dictates the price (at least in most cases) and those that know, know that buying a truck with all the emissions nonsense makes no sense.

When central planning turns off the printing press & interest rates go up, equipment values will change. It has to happen, it is just a question of when.

Between 2000 and 2002 you could by trucks for a song, and you sing it. I bought three during that time, a '94 & '95 IH, and a '97 T600, none over 475k miles for 12k, 14k, 17k.

Back last year when I thought I wanted a newer truck list my 99 flat top Pete for $30000 and had a dealer in tn wanting to come give me cash, I backed out because all I could find were 08 s and 9s. Figured I would do better to just keep running her and when necessary rebuild again.

I sold an 05 W900L in December with 1,350,000 on it for $45,000. I should have asked more for it.

First off, pete 379 have always had outrageous prices in the used maket. No one makes a truck with a huge grill, big air filters on outside, side stacks etc. anymore, so the look pays. Compare a pete 379 price to a pete 387 price. The 379 will be twice as much. Stupid to pay doubel for looks IMO btu there u have it. Also, no one makes trucks without DPF anymore. Pre 03 is gonna get the best mpg with the least maintenance troubles. If you want a cheaper truck...look near cali. Do to carb the market there is getting flooded with in compliant trucks.

w900 and 379 fetch 25G in looks in addition to whatever the truck should sell for.

Doesn't matter where the extra 25grand comes from to the seller only that we get it. Be it from looks, reliability, what have you.

When people buy a vehicle they're rarely anywhere near being in their right minds.

Bigger factor is exports. About a year ago we started to see prices drop. And if you look at exports during that time they also dropped. Now exports are hotter than ever.
