Why are Volvos so much better than all other Class 8 trucks?

Trucking is not what defines my life or my lifestyle. It's a vocation that provides for my family needs economically.

I enjoy it, I make good money as an owner operator. I take pride in the service I provide for my customers.

I keep my truck and trailer clean. I keep it serviced and well maintained. However, I don't have a special affinity for my truck. When it comes time to let it go via trade or sale, I won't shed one tear ;-)

Well I can say also that I have a friend that has two 2002 VHD D13 465 dump trucks. They have been through numerous drivers, abuse, been rolled....and they are still on the job today. That is impressive.

I had a 13 vnl780 for 4 1/2 years. Was a great truck, best riding truck and quitest truck on the road. I didn't trust it would be a great truck after warranty expired (non of them are) and I had a family thing I wanted to stay home for, so I sold it. Nobody ever called my gay for driving it. That would have been a mistake.
It's a tool to make money, and one of the nicest laid out bunks quiet and smooth. I have some health issues knee and hip (replaced hip a week ago) so the ishift was awesome.
I ended up buying a 12 Columbia glider because I don't want anymore emission issues and don't want a payment anymore I'm working part time at best so the glider made sense.
Only guys calling Volvo or Columbia owners "gay" are probably making for their own "shortage" in the manly department. Not one of them ever approached me in a truckstop to mention it face to face.... unfortunately. Lol

It sounds like I need to buy a Volvo... an older one. Those autos are nice, but expensive when they break from one guy's report.

It’s not that Volvo’s are better trucks. It’s just that better people drive them so they seem better.

    :D

Because Volvo owners always give a friendly wave, accompanied with a smile. :biggrin_25520:

I wonder why Toyota didn't get into semis. Why not Honda?

Funny you mention that. I was thinking a cab over Kawasaki might bring back the old Kenworth 100 look

I'd pay $600 for that older century happily.
