Why are Volvos so much better than all other Class 8 trucks?

I didn't get that bid. I bid $4200 and it went for $6400. Plus add $1500 buyers fee for a total of 7900. A bargain? I don't think so. If the inside condition was any indication of the mechanical condition, it appeared to be a real reg. It would have been fine at $5500, perhaps. Just as well.

When I was in truck repair a clutch job cost around $5,000 on average. That was new flywheel/or resurface if possible which they almost always aren't, new rear main seal, new motor mounts most of the time because most trucks need em, clutch, pressure plate, rebuild the trans because most guys are grinding them pretty hard as the clutch is crapping out. I don't know of any shop that will do a clutch (right anyways) for $1500. Just something to keep in mind as you are looking into trucks.

Just a clutch shouldn't cost more than 1500 bucks. Now all that extra work, that's more than just a clutch going out, thats somebody who doesnt know how to drive a stick properly to begin with, if you know how to properly float gears you can run it the rest of the week and not hurt the trans a bit.

Unfortunately that's not what people do lol. If I remember correctly most clutches were around $600 (new) at fleet pride, like another$300 for a flywheel. I could be wrong, I'm going off of memory. At a minimum the trans should be re sealed and a rear main done while it's out.

I had a clutch and rear main done 21/2 years ago, did an out of frame this March and still didnt do anything with the flywheel because it looked just fine. My trans did decide to do its imitation of a rock crusher this week though, not sure why.

I had to put a clutch in my truck after I bought it. The fingers on the pressure plate collapsed and it wouldn't release. The guy did it fore $1,650, including turning the flywheel.

I would have liked to get the rear seal done at the time though

I don't suppose I've ever floated gears in a car, right (lol)? I don't know what that is. Here is where I admit I know nothing about something. I sure didn't like 5k for a clutch. Yikes! What is floating and how is it done, in general of course. ?

02 14l did NOT have egr. It wasnt until 03 model year engine that egr was implemented on all detroit engines.
