I completely agree. Where i work the owner specs the trucks nice. Premium mattress, fridges , apu, free sat radio. Carpet in the sleeper area, also allows 2 washes a month.
Why are Volvos so much better than all other Class 8 trucks?

Volvos do not bring out neutral opinions. Nobody says "uh, they're ok." Either you love them, or like me, hate them. There is no in between.

New trucks aren't as bad as people think, in the short term, 500-700k or so. Creature comforts, ergonomics, are no comparison with the old. they don't start to rattle and the dash doesn't start flying apart before a mil miles like the older "cheap trucks". Yes, Freightshaker and early Volvos got a well deserved reputation bot being throw away, they still are in some sense. But nowadays, so is Peterbilt and Kenworth. Same turd different shape.
I wouldn't want to own a new truck past a mil miles, no way. The electronic BS wiring that's in them? You flip a switch and it tells a computer to turn something on, it's doesn't just turn it on directly. Wiring is a PITA anyway without adding in that twist. SCR with half the warranty as the truck....
IMO, All new trucks are throw away trucks after 500k. Whoever makes it.
What is the cost difference between a new truck every 500k, after taxes and writeoffs, V.S. keeping an old truck on the road. Which one has more downtime? Who is in the position to work with that either way? Is downtime that much of an issue?
Depends on who you are and what you do. Newer drivers, drivers with newer trucks, just get tired of the "peter jockeys" regurgitating stuff they hear someone else say....Gearjammin' Penguin, Cattleman84, DUNE-T and 2 others Thank this. -

What I find amusing is Volvo had a recall on defective steering column bolts and all the haters came out of the woodwork. Freightliner has defective pitman arm and has issued a recall and absolutely NOTHING!!! from the peanut gallery.
MartinFromBC Thanks this. -
I don't see reference to politics here. I have replied to threads and found my post in a different thread before. like a software bug.
I think it happened while while posting to a thread and the "new posts have been made since viewing" (or whatever) link appeared. Click the link, read whatever is new, then continue on with the message and post it. more than once the message I posted ended up in another thread. -
You missed it.......not surprised
