Will increased fuel costs put you out of business?

Most owner operators aren't running 65 thousand miles per year. They are running more like 110K, so the 26cmp increase is not accurate.
    4 Critical Variables
    1. Truck Payment-if you have one-this is controlled-it's consistent
    2. Insurance- controlled-consistent
    3. Fuel- it's an uncontrolled variable
    4. Maintenance- partially controlled, but still widly varies

When fuel goes up, not a big deal. When it goes way up (and it is going way up) then the danger rests in a very, very, very low margin for error in Maintenance. One major maintenance problem worth 25 thousand can be enough to put some out of business.

That the price of fuel will be 30-40 cents lower than when he fueled up.

He's not alone. I just filled our tanks for $4.99/g here in Oregon, thinking it would probably be higher tomorrow.

[Discard “the retired and laugh at the world crowd”]

As someone who is semi-retired, I take that as an insult and to be pizz poor advice.

So if Joe is responsible for the high fuel prices then is he also responsible when they get lower?? This Pilots discount price was listed at $5.09 yesterday and today it’s at $4.35. Even though Russia doesn’t import enough petroleum to affect our economy, sanctions against them will still have a ripple effect on us half way around the world. Hopefully we’ll continue to see a decrease in fuel prices and I don’t give rats ### who is responsible for that

Earlier this morning I was almost on E so I put in 50 gallons to wait and see what would happen. At 2:21 I paid 4.95. Just checked the app and sure enough its down to 4.67, 3.5 hours later. TCS is actually lower at 4.55!

This was Mudflap in eastern Ohio.
