Why are we so concerned with fuel prices?

Will increased fuel costs put you out of business?

That will work, I’m starting to wonder if an industry is going to be born with our thoughts.

I actually looked at that as well. I found one that can rotate and move that has 4g cellphone coverage. Might do something like that.

3rd week running under my own numbers. I left a large fleet with excellent discounts. Pulling flatbed and I have the whole month of March booked. I’m not sure that was a smart move or not but I know I will have steady revenue. So $9300 on 2200 miles is what I did this week. Works out to be $4.22 for every mile I turned. With $5.50 fuel and my truck getting 5.5 mpg, works out to $1.00 a mile fuel. Add all other expenses and I’m around $2.41 cost per mile.

So what happens if you break down tomorrow and cant pick up the next load but will have to dead head to the next one? You cancel them all or just bite it and try and dead head to the next one?

Depends on the break down. Would be no different than booking a load while still on a different load. Trucking is full of what if’s. I’m just trying to roll with the punches. My mentality at the time of booking these loads was at least I know I will be making this a week for a month. Instead of everyday pounding the load board, sometimes coming up lucky, sometimes coming up short.

I will not book out more then a week at at a time. I used to always book out for the week and then come home. Now I like to run last min stuff as it pays better most times. Sounds like you are doing ok so good for you on first month on own.

Yep. Might be back to bite me. I sure hope not. I’m loading 50 mile from my house and running down to Knoxville. Then reloading next morning and reloading there. Run back up to home and unload same day. Then go home and do it again next day.
