Why aren't loads priced according to weight?

They just are not going to educate anyone about them....

That's a Big reason for the low knowledge from drivers admiral

first things first...An independent carrier Should al least understand a bill of lading, Notice how that isn't mandated as a law or such?

Understanding a Bill of lading is crucial for many matters...

1.Understanding which party is responsible for freight charges
2.Key ingredient in freight Class (which means if you got the load from a broker, you can generally see how freight rate come to terms)
3.Knowing if freight was "Collect" or "prepaid"

Ive heard some of these guys that think when it says "prepaid" It means YOU the carrier get paid immediately, These drivers really need to be educated on this.

I disagree. We were hauling exclusive uses in the 70's. When a shipper requested exclusive use of the truck it boosted whatever they wanted moved into class 100. And in turn it would go as a 18K-24K minimum. If per chance it weighted more it went at actual weight. Off points paid like gold. I started in 73 with Time-DC was one of the last guys at Branch Motor Express. I was a special commodities guy with house accounts.

I like the ones that think it means the broker has already been paid. Ot that collect means that you get paid on delivery.

I don't know what this means: but I'd like to know. I'm figuring the first number of those lines is weight..that's as much extrapolation as I'm willing to commit to though lol

Could you explain it a bit? Thanks WiChris

Don't really rember the term exclusive use then, maybe exception rate? But that still had to be filed and approved. I agree, off points were gold. As was congested areas.

First column is weight breaks, other columns is the rate per hundred weight of that break and the class.

What you are looking at are per hundred weight charges with various distances. Numbers vary depending on class which varies on value, density, level of service.

    Wrong.

Those are rates/class for a certain 3 digit zip pu and a certain 3 digit zip drop. Those are our rates for one customer so i'm not giving the zips.

I'm trying to make it simple for ruthless. It works out the same. Probably the class is always the same.
