Why did the rear bumper get lower when I slid the tandems back to the rear of the trailer?

It's already after 9 PM. How long are you planning on tying up the receiving docks to conduct your experiment?

Looks like @Oxbow pretty well covered it.

Me, I haven't touched anything with sliding axles in several decades. And it's been over 10 years since I've had a sliding 5th wheel. I'm just so good, I don't need them to get the axles right. Trying to remember who the quote is from... "It ain't bragging if you can do it!". LOL

I'm thinking the forklift driver wants on the ignore list also after talking with him.

I don't know what you mean by this exactly. To me, this sounds like "what if the height of the 5th wheel is lower than the 5th wheel".

What is the 5th wheel plate? How is the 5th wheel plate different than the 5th wheel?

I was referring to the plate where the king pin is attached on the trailer. The point was that with if the trailer was disconnected, was sitting on level ground, and the landing gear was at a height where the trailer was sitting level, if the height of the fifth wheel on the tractor was lower than the king pin plate to where one had to lower the landing gear to hook up, that would raise the trailer behind the axles. The further forward the trailer axles are, the higher the back of the trailer would be. The result would be opposite if the tractor fifth wheel height was higher than the trailer when level.
