You will be ahead being a snipe, Just do not get one that loves fuel. Not heard of WVT of Texas but you should do fine as long they pay for what you do. I am not a fan of a Detroit but since you are a MK it will be cheaper to fix.

I am finally successful at this Dirty Game of Trucking and O/O..WHY..?...Simple Answer...

I shut the hell up and LISTENED LONG ENOUGH to the Old Timer O/O..At one time i cussed and swore at these miserable old bastads.I was a very ####y young man, back in the day.Today i listen to them and respect them for what they freely gave me....A LIFE.!!!!!!

Long Story short..When i was an O/O doing ''my way'',all i had in my life was a truck..:biggrin_2559:..I lived in the darn truck.!!!..Here i am,a full flight from reality, telling O/O's how to run a business and i am LIVING IN A TRUCK.!!!!...:biggrin_2559:I mean i had my whole life in an old cabover with NOTHING.I had 3 sets of clothes,a CB Radio,Merle Haggard and kool and the gang Tapes,A feather 1987 roach clip,a pillow and a blanket my mom gave me...:biggrin_2559:.My cabover leaked and i had a bucket to catch the water when it rained.WOW,talk about a ####y dumb trucker.Well that was me for some time. The old timers took a likeing to me and just let me go and rolled there eyes...

I was a walking encyclopedia of useless information.I was so cool that if i was any cooler i would of frooze to dealth..:biggrin_2559:

I look at my life today and i am so blessed. How did a kid like me end up here.?.As you may know i went to juvie hall,a boy's medium prison than a stint in an adult prison. How did i end up with the life i have today.?..SIMPLE...

I became open minded long enough to let the old timers HELP ME.I set my arrogance, self centeredness, know it all B/S aside long enough to let the OLD TIMERS HELP ME..

From that day forward in that old TRUCK STOP in NJ,I became teachable.I finally listened to the men and woman that walked before me and had a good life in trucking as an O/O..I am still in contact with these old guys and the old woman.Even though they do not drive anymore and are retired they always have time for the NEW KID.That's what they call me..:biggrin_2559:..

In listening to them, step by step i have a nice life today. All i had to do was shut up long enough and listen. What they taught me was the ''business 101'' of trucking and how this works. Before that my way was very screwed up.My best thinking had me living in a truck with nothing at all.Not even a car.

I am not ''bragging'',so please do not think i am.This is just an example of where i am at today.I try to stay a humble man and i never forget where i came from.I try everyday to help the new O/O be successful.Even though many of them are just like i used to beu:biggrin_2559:But today i have a very nice home worth 100,000 grand paid for.I have 2 paid for Harley's that i love and will keep till i die.I have a very nice furnished home and nice clothes in my closet.I have 40,000 in my ''maint account'' and over 100,000 in my savings for retirement.

More than all that i still call and ask for HELP.I still screw up and want to do things MY WAY.I still go off in my own little world thinking i know it all. When i do that i usually fall flat on my face and have to start calling and asking for help..

This is how i did it and continue to do it.All i have is how it was for me.The end is near for me in trucking and i hope i can help out the new O/O and stear him or her in the right direction,so they can have a decent life and not LIVE IN A TRUCK.

Thank you very much for sharing. Brag all you want. I understand it's a pride thing to own a truck. It's always been of course, I know that. As long as you're bragging the right way, where it helps others glean from the lessons you've learned so they can be successful too its all fine by me. Thanks again, share all you want of the ins and outs of O/O!! That's why I asked!:) To many times we all hear people complain, we need the other side as well and this is great.

I think it just takes a stubborn person to be a successful O/O and no one really fails, they just quit or give up. Sometimes they might give it up for other reasons. Money is not always the best thing for some. I was a successful owner operator. Made lots of money. Paid all my bills. I'm just a flip flop wearing company driver now, working about 35 hours a week.

I wouldn't say stubborn but motivated more than others in the same situation. And yeah, some have quit and gave up a little to soon.

Failure and making mistakes is a human thing since the fall. Some can fall and get back up and try anew and others get knocked down and for reasons that only they know don't ever try again. I guess it's how much of falling at something can you take. Failing can be good if you get back up, learn from it and apply it. Failing doesn't make one a failure. It happens. Failing can be good for people. Especially when it's learned from

No, not all it was a hard row to hoe.. 1st 2 years green lumber, chips and crushed cars 200 mile radius. Company driver. 4 outfits in 2 years driving junk always grossing 85 - 95K Purchased my first truck to get a job because YOU COUNDN'T GET ONE with a decent company.Leased to a heavy haul outfit, almost starved to death. Leased to CCC, 1981. Good family outfit. 150 O/O 350 company trucks back in the day. made a living running for .78 per mile. But had my own truck a 1975 Ford 9000 318 det.

Well stated. I agree. I bought a truck with many problems and worked for the wrong company to start and didn't have 2 nickles but I am very stubborn.
