A family friend said his son was making $50k to $60k driving LTL linehaul. I thought that sounded like something I could do as Walmart was only paying $26k per year.

Man. That's rough. Sorry dude. I can't even begin to imagine how I would feel if I applied for top model status and was rejected.

Because when I tell a trucking company I have a load of live fish to move, I learn a new way of saying "oh, heck, no!"........

The real reason is because I have always been fascinated by trucks, logistics and owning a trucking company is a good way to cure that fascination.

I used to go with my father, back when I still lived in Russia. I got hooked from that point on. Got to states turned 21 and boom there I went. Started driving military trucks, like 5 tons and 915. I drove het last year. But military kinda disappointed me so, I applied with the first company that called me. Which was CRST. I aced school, went thro orientation and never got hired, cause of a speeding ticket. Then got on with Werner on Walmart account. Luckly for me they lost it 4 months later to Marten. Got hired with Marten Transport. Only reason is, APUs. I need my gaming machine everywhere I go. Been hauling Walmart groceries for 1.5 years. I honestly love this career, no boss, days fly by, and I get spend my free time playing video games.

It's a love hate relationship for me. Some days I LOVE being behind the wheel. When I leave just before sunrise, in the Appalachian mountains and see the sun come up, got the window rolled down, listening to Skynnard, I count my blessings I chose this job. Then 6 hours later I run into friggin traffic in some ghetto scum hole city that smells like hot garbage and moldy cheese. Then I start hating it again. Once out of the city, I get into the country again, crank the window back down, and enjoy the view. Then I have to pull into a tiny friggin parking lot at my drop. A place that has no business accepting deliveries from a 53' trailer. Then when I walk in the door, some miserable skank is sitting there with very little self esteem and so the only pleasure she gets out of life is making your life as miserable as possible for the short (most of the time very long) time you're in her clutches. She goes home and tells her drunk boyfriend and 4 illegitimate children about how she made a driver wait for 4 hours to unload 5 pallets. Then I'm unloaded and fill out my paperwork and know I just made such and such dollars. And things begin looking up. Then the cycle starts over again. And again and again and again.........

Oh. I got into trucking because working as a cop now a days sucks. So many rules that now when you need to get physical with a suspect, it's in your best interest to ask that person if it's ok with them to be tased. And if they would be so kind as to stop resisting before spraying them with Freeze.
