    just find a good company.
My dispatcher pretty much works with me and not against me.
I ask to go to certain areas and he does his best to keep me there.
Once in a blue moon I get stuck in pa..what do I do?
Immediately put in for home time in California...

    I live in Ohio.

    OR..........
Drive to work 5 minutes away
    Work 8.5 or 9 hours
    Drive home 5 minutes
    Eat good
Watch TV while wife does dishes,
Have your oriental or eastern european wife Rub you down with a happy ending/or until you fall asleep
    Repeat.

Set yourself up like that- and you just found the holy grail.

Just curious, do people think there's much of a difference between OTR and "home on weekends" regional ( if that really exists in any consistent way )? One of the instructors at my CDL school says that regional work has pretty much just morphed into short term OTR meaning you're usually out-n-back 2-4 days maybe 500 - 800 miles per trip. I gather a lot of flatbedders in my area do this kind of work. Seems like a descent balance to me if you can get this sort of thing.

More of why I don't want to go back OTR. When driving long. 11 hours and can't take a break. Gotta get it there. It got to my legs.
I need more breaks. Why I'm going Dedicated. At least 2 stops within a 400 mile radius. As many as 5 stops. That should be better for my legs.
I am rehabilitating my legs, slowly. Taking time. I admit I started with a lower back injury causing leg pain. Wasn't doing great when I started OTR.
I also ordered one of these: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Easy-Hom...-Portable-Pain-Relief-Therapy-Device/50350687
Hoping I can use it to help stimulate circulation while I'm driving. Any suggestions? Am thinking on the feet might be smartest? At least lower legs.

    FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

Would compression socks help? I started wearing them at my current IT gig as I'm sitting several hours a day. I figure those would be a staple among truck drivers.

I cant stand local... I want runs that are 1500+ miles 1 way. But there is a catch... I won't stay out more than 14 days. And every time I get home I want to be able to be home for at least 48 hours.

    I never did OTR.

There is no need to other than it being what you like to do.

I like my job. It’s something new every day, I drive but I do a lot of other stuff too. I’m not a fan of sitting in the truck all day except when it’s cold or raining.
