Not every 'new and improved' is new and improved, though. Flush toilets, for example, are a crappy idea. Why waste precious drinking water to evacuate poop through pipes--direct into rivers and streams? Now we pay to treat it back to potable.

Pee is even a worse idea. It's a 'perfect' fertilizer.

So you flush pee with drinking water and buy a bag of Scott's or Miracle-Gro.

Think Phoenix, LA, Palm Springs and other deserts flushing massive amounts of water along with a little pee/fertilizer. Boggles the mind.

    But I digress...

Let's get back to good ol' manual, hand-pumping your water from a well. Get rid of all the 'automatics.'

The biggest issue for me Vic is whether the teething problems have been worked out. I'm happy to let others have the latest and greatest and maybe I'll adopt after generation 4. I'll pay less for the option (Moore's law applies) AND get a more robust product.

Early adopters, on the other hand, can point to their bright red tags and complain about companies releasing products before they're ready (while still carrying flip phones?)

Yea yea yea. Same things I used to think about auto trans trucks. But after putting over 255 thousand miles on one in all type's of terrain. I actually prefer my auto now. If I want or need a specific gear with the push of one button to lock it in manual then choose whatever gear I want. Mt driving is a breeze. Select the gear you want for the downhill side and just ride it down letting the jake do its job.

Just over at neighbor's, where he reminisced about a rough patch he had a couple years ago, reverted to multi-function wood stove after gas company turned his service off. Back in the day you cooked on your wood stove, heated up your bath water, too, while heating the house.

And that's what he did for some months...

SO, the reality, your problem is with emissions, not with the transmissions, so, instead of saying that from the start, you've slammed something you have ZERO exp. with. Nice.

And oddly, you use technology that has a higher rate of failure and an infinitely greater ability to ruin your life than an automatic emissions equipped tractor ever will. I know people who within 30 minutes can have all your personal information, just from hacking your profile on here, and within 12 hrs create a fake ID that will ruin your life, and within 24 hrs have your existing ID sold on the internet to hackers in other countries. And you're worried about a automatic transmission.

There will always be teething problems, doesn't matter if it's Gen 1 or Gen 21, that's why there will always be updates of some sort or another.

Quick aside, you commented before about being able to shift fast and smooth. Coming back to Denver today from Imperial, Ne., 82,940 lbs gross, from a standing start, around a corner and up to cruising speed on I-76, my pesky automatic, shifted 1, 4, 7, 9, 11, 12 getting up to 75 mph. I felt the first two shifts, never felt the rest, didn't realize I was in 12th until I looked at the dash display.
