your scenario is not even a parallel to the topic. off road/mining is completely different than on highway driving. let's be realistic shall we?

exactly my point....we all float....But , there will be times in a drivers career that double clutching will save his power train , and by having the ability to double clutch , or if he doesn't he'll be stuck broken down and scratching his behind , saying I sure wished I would've listened to them OLD FART's.........There isn't really a right or wrong here....but a need to have a common sense attitude / approach to having and being proficient in all of the skills necessary to drive and shift a manual transmission.rank, "semi" retired and Big Don Thank this.

i am thinking that,unfortunately,he/she/it exemplifies the new breed. i can't help but wonder how i was at that experience level. i truly don't think that i knew everything although not going to a driving school most likely did give me more of a school of hard knocks education regarding wherever i was at wildhoses present experience level.

Yup...thanks to the computer, we now have kids who don't see why they need to learn how to add & subtract because their calculator can tell them the answer...cashiers who don't know how to make change because the register tells them how much to give back...and now a whole slew of truck drivers who don't have the slightest clue how to keep a log book or work the HOS because they have a computer telling them when they can drive, for how long, when they need to stop, and how long 'til they can roll again. NOBODY has to know how to do anything for themselves anymore because they are content letting a computer run their lives for them.
