Why do American trucks still use drum brakes?

    the problem is in different reaction delay. IMO: only all disk brake system truck and trailer with EBS and trucktor-trailer brake CAN (brake by wire system) REALLY SAFE AND STABIL. Lets use all other modern things, like ESP and RSS

    Although you can still use a tractor with disc brakes with drum brake trailer, there will be a likely hood of jake knife like I said. Believe me, right now trucks all over the US with disc brakes are pulling trailers with drum brakes. It's not illegal, but its not the safest thing.

    Yeah, I consider it to be mistake introdusing disk brakes on trucktors first. The better idea - start with trailers
