The company I work for has allot of freight moving all over the place and unlike most big(er) carriers they are NOT afraid to get a broker load to keep us moving non stop.....

So I pull allot of broker loads.

I understand they need allot of info from us which is fine, Truck #, Trailer #, Name, Company Name...

BUT this one broker company we use is Nosey as all H3LL, and it's not that big of a deal but WHY are Brokers trying to trick drivers into giving them all the info they need to prove that the driver is messing with there logbook?

Last time I pulled a load for them, I was asked "where are you now" so I told him, then the next day he calls me and says "where were you when I called you yesterday?" then he asked "did you drive down there last night? or this morning?" then he asked "if you drove down last night how did you get your 10 hour break in before you got loaded?" and more and more questions like that....WTF !!!!!!

My book is 100% legal so he can go F himself but Why do they do this?

I talked to my dad a few weeks ago (he's also a driver) and he says they do it because if they can prove your running Illegal they don't have to pay for the load......Which sounds stupid! if that were the case there would be allot of freight moving around for free and tons of O/Os wouldnt be useing these Big brokers....

Now today I'm pulling the same load for the same broker and he's doing the same thing "where are you now?", "are you at the customer?" "what time did you get there?"

They ask these questions because sometimes customers need to know where there load is and if it will be delivered on time....Ever heard of just in time freight ??

Also checking to see if you can be trusted with another load, it may come as a shock but there are quite a few drivers that have no clue what they are doing..If your a screw up pretty good chance you won't be getting another load and if you screw up bad enough your whole company will get dropped...That broker doesn't wanna lose his account because of a steering wheel holder..

    Hi
well i cant speak for your company you work for but as far as where i work we have a seperate brokerage division which is still part of celadon, and their are close to 10 or so broker agents who move freight.
we get contacted by company's who want to move the loads that are listed and or we contact company's to see if they want to move the loads, and as far as asking those questions they are asked to make sure the load gets delivered on time and gets delivered in a safe manner, like we want to make sure you got your 10 hr break in, your full 10 hr break. why? if you are pulling one of our broker loads and you didnt get a full 10 hr break in and lets just say you had a really really bad accident and there was a fatality or a major fire or major damage what is D.O.T going to do ? you know go over your truck and paperwork with a fine tooth comb. all your paperwork logs everything and all of a sudden they see where you took a 6 hr break instead of 10, now what ? we allowed this driver to do this? not only are we trained to ask these questions the customer also may want these questions asked. it has nothing to do with coming up something to not pay you for the load. as a driver you should be able to legally pickup the load and deliver the load and not violate your HOS

AT, They are just keeping track of their SH&^ I had 1 call me every 3 hours, I finally turned my phone off, They left me alone till I delivered and then I called dispatch and told them to call them and tell them to remove my number from their data base. They also treat us drivers like a piece of meat, They question everything... Not sure why that is, I treat them the same same way, I don't say Thank You or Have a nice day or anything. Take Care. Albert Lea, MN to Mockville, NC in 8 days....Just in time lol I don't think so:biggrin_2559:

I understand the steering wheel holder part but this just seams a little over the top. Now if they asked how many hours I have that I can understand to make sure I have enough but where I am and how I am and did I wash behind my ears has nothing to do with there load lol

Its not over the top man that broker doesn't want to lose that account to another broker because the driver hauling it is screw up...don't take it personal but they have to cover their ### just like we do who knows another driver from your company may have been late so now your all being watched a little closer..
