Why do bulk haulers think it’s acceptable to clean out wherever?

What’s the deal with hopper bottoms cleaning out on ramps, truck stop parking lots, ect? It’s pretty evident when you see two small piles of commodities that are hauled in hoppers. I’ve seen 3-400 pound piles on the shoulder of ramps before.

Last night the entire truck stop smelled like rotting meal of some sort from guys cleaning out. I saw a video another driver filmed where a pneumatic sand hauler blew off several hundred pounds all over the back row.

Do these customers not let you clean out on their property?

Criminal charges would make it stop. Most places have littering statutes. Trespassing their entire carrier from the entire corporation truck stop lots would probably get them fired. Do it at a TA? Good luck getting fuel at pilot. Do it at pilot too? Good luck with loves as your only option to fuel park and shower, etc.

Nope. Back when I pulled a pneumatic I never saw a cleanout spot at any place I ever went.

The problem comes when you have a customer that can't hold the full load. Most carriers don't keep a waste trailer at their yard, so they just tell the driver to "get rid of it."

Ive always tried to clean out at the customer if possible, aluminum turnings are awful. I’d sweep after empty, keep my tarp open and open the grain gate and would have to sweep again when I got to where I was loading, but it was literally like a shovel full. World’s full of a lot of rude people.

Most places don’t allow you on or in your trailer on their property. Electric hoppers are a godsend. Just hit the buttons going down the road.

When I pulled pneumatic we were always washed out before our outbound loads and our back haul could be loaded on top of that so we never had to clean out on the road.

Same thing as the deal with vans and reefers dumping pallets and pallets worth of crap in the dirt on the back row. Its not a problem specific to bulk haulers even a little. Its pigs plain and simple.

Some do, some don't. As mentioned some your not allowed in or on trailer.

I have one that built a "clean out platform". Probably 100k with engineers and steel. I have zero idea how it's is to be used.

But that's some lazy assssssssed drivers to dump in the side of the road, or parking lot they don't own. I've see it. They should be hung upside down, by their hanngy down parts.
