why do companies spec trucks so stupidly?

My biggest gripe is the way companies screw with the engine programming. My company has the engine so screwed up over passed up hill by almost everyone, including swift and prime. I gone up hills in 6th because of it, and my truck has an ISX15. Hell I'm down shifting on a 6% grade with an empty aluminum flat

I'm thinking that's something that dims the inside lights when the sun goes down.

I've got to add something here, for the most part these trucks are leased to the megas and they go through a process to buy them in batches so there is a general spec of the truck and that is what is ended up with in the fleet. If the purchasing agent within the company was to look at his fleet and try to determine what is really needed and what is possible, he would go nuts.

The trade off is to move the trucks in and out the fleet fast enough to make a business sense and to keep the fleet moving. It may be a 30 day window to cycle the off lease trucks out and the new ones in or it may be 15 days, it all depends on the company.

So back to the specs, many times it is a general purpose spec, which is just fine for the company's need in the financial sense, they can tolerate a high fuel costs or slower delivery times in some cases.

Instead of stabbing the speaker with the screwdriver, use it to carefully remove the speaker and unplug it, then put it back in place. I did that in the truck I am in now. Best 10 minutes I've spent.

Oh yeah, what is "dark cabin mode"?

Yeah, there was a reason this old girl always had a least one bungee where I could get to it! Two bungee hooks and 30 seconds and I'm in!

    Everyone loves dark cabin mode...
Doesnt illuminate the cab every time you open the door...nothing like observing fat boy in a wifebeater t shirt...drinking a beer and smokin a doobie.
