Why do drivers circle the parking lot?

I like to circle to cool down the engine, a few laps and pop the Mad Dog 20/20 open.

Just practicing a few NASCAR maneuvers after a long day of drafting four wheelers and other truckers.

 

I circle counter-clockwise to go back in time and get my hours back. That only works in the northern hemisphere. You have to go clockwise if you're in the southern hemisphere.

 

Personally I am looking for a strong enough apu to recharge my flux capacitor while I sleep so I don't need to do all that circling.
