Regarding the bungees hanging from the steps, I always thought, since they were looped through the slats on the steps, that they were for wiping boots/shoes off like a rubber mat rather than just the aluminum step. Also maybe for better foot grip in icy slippery conditions?

I don't know, that's just where my mind went when I saw em.

Or maybe have $1000's more in the old bank account.

    Not complaining - just laughing.

Around these parts we hang bungee chords on the steps or exhaust stacks to use for chaining up. Yeah we actually drive 6 months of the year on packed snow.

Ask a good tech how much of your signal is lost by tilting them forward...you'll be amazed. In some cases, and I mean very very few, the tilt is needed to aquire the best possible SWR. Check this subject out in the radio forums of this site, or like I said, ask a good tech. They have a ratio but I have no clue what it is, all I know is the signal lose was insane when you start tilting the antenna's...

Those ain't bungee cords. Those are professionally made static strips that have wire embedded in them. Big difference. Truth be known, that's probably where this thread originated from. Some monkey see monkey do driver assumed they are just rubber. Hey a broke bungee cord would work. See ###### post, lol.

It's understandable with a wire whip Wilson antenna that actually straightens up going down the road with the correct angle. But the monkey see monkey do drivers don't understand that part when they about lay them down or use stiff fiberglass antenna's. They just know it looks cool in their mind.

Jarhead64 has 1 part correct, 2nd part the straps will really help as mud flaps. They cut down on the spray from your steers in rain. I use them for saftey only.
