Remembering which state you're currently in so you hand the right one to the DOT bear...
...er sorry California! Ya mean this ISN'T Florida? There's palm trees out there!

I don't really see the need in running 3 log books.. All I ever needed was 2 and ran 5400 miles a week on avg back then.

When you first get out class at your new job and on the truck, you do not have 70 , you have used up a week in the ot room, so your not at your 70 , most time if you can run a checkbook, thats how i did my recap, ran that many hours, then next day subtract yesterdays hours and theres your hours you can run i think thats how ya do it, anyway thats what up front in most log books say, but since i went too e -logs i found on net, its does this all automatic , pretty neet system and for $50 for Elicipes logs, single user lic is a whole cheaper then a ticket and shutdown, this a great tool for those not good in the math dept,

If recap is just dropping the 8th day back, adding those hours back in minus the hours you used the day before plus your 11, how hard is that? That's how I've been doing it since I started OTR.

That's how I do it too. Just work with the difference.

no it is an oilfield exemption

If you work 11 to 14 hours a day then you won't beable to recap hours after you have burned up 70 hours because you will have burnt up your 70 hours in about 5 days you would have to wait more then 34 hours before you could recap the hours from day 1 anyway. Now if you only work about 8 hours a day then you will beable to run non stop for as long as you like.
I burn up more then 12 hours a day and that is with a little fudging on my on duty not driving time. I try to use as much sleeper time as possible when I am not moving. This saves time on my 70. I just make sure that all my time stamped materials match my log book. This is not hard for me to do since we fuel at a company owned pump site all the time and the only time stamped materials we have are our scale reciepts at the plants that we unload at. -
Thank you. The same thing crossed my mind.
