Another bit of false information . Our trucks aren't governed unless they go to Canada . We run in Texas a lot so we make money running over 70 mph .

yea you obvioulsy arent going to average 75, but you wont average 65 either, in fact you will die on the hills even more. i think its safe to say you can average close to 10mph more on the day if your on the interstate

that was kind of my point in starting this thread. drivers dont have much of a choice, because their is too many drivers willing to take it and not stand up for themself. if all drivers wouldnt be will to take it, then companies would either have to pay a lot more or not govern trucks.

i read so much on this board of people saying trucking is a mistake, telling new drivers to stay away, you could make more an hour flipping burgers then you will when you add all your hours up as a truck driver, etc

That's because they aren't doing it right. Not because of a governed truck. Sorry, whatever point you are trying to make will be drowned out with common sense. It's their equipment, their fuel, their insurance, so it's their choice. I drive a governed truck. 67 miles per hour. I don't make less than $1000 a week. Usually it's between $1200-$1500. Once again, my truck is governed at 67 mph. Most on this board post once or twice about how they got "screwed". There are others that have been through 10-15 companies and each one sucks and every one steals and lies. Governed trucks aren't the problem. Dumb drivers are the problem. Lazy drivers. Inconsiderate. The list goes on. You found a company that lets you run like hell. Good for you. But there are a lot of us that drive governed truckstop or O/O's that self govern and make good money. I don't know how you're saying that drivers shouldn't stand for governed trucks. If they want to drive as fast as they want, then they have the option of buying their own and paying for the fuel. I promise you that if you had to foot the bill for the diesel that was going in that truck, you'd slow down too. Unless money is no object, and in your case, it's not your money, so I guess for you it's not an object.

All this talk of running 2500 to 3000 miles a week has me feeling sick!! My truck is wide open but I never go over 62mph, but then again I only drive 367 miles a day 5 days a week and of that ONLY 19 miles a day is on interstate lol

There is always a choice. You made yours and got lucky. Others make their choices and most do well. I checked on the national average pay for flipping hamburgers and a fast food restaurant. It is $7.77/hour. No matter how you cut it there is no way you will make as much flipping hamburgers as a new truck driver. Not only that, but you will be on your feet all day and you won't be able to slack off. There are fryers to clean, floors to sweep and mop and burgers to fry. You will see the same scenery day in and day out. You can work as long as you can stand it and never make as much as a truck driver. I read one note from a guy who works at McDonald's in New York City. He started at $7.20/hour and three years later he is making $8.20/hour.

For some people this career choice might be a mistake. Not everyone is cut out to be an otr truck driver. It can be demanding, but also rewarding. One thing about trucking is that you can work as long as you can pass the physical and have a good work ethic, mvr and work history. You can't say that about most career choices. I have not worked as a company driver in some time, but the last company that I drove for I earned almost $45,000/year and was home most weekends. The truck was also governed. You see not everyone can manage themselves or their time. Many prefer to blame others rather than themselves or how they work.

Nobody likes speedlimiters. Not because you want to go fast but because there might be occasions that a little extra speed is handy...

We have speed limiters because there are drivers that don't use common sense. They only know one way to drive and that is with the pedal to the metal, going as fast as possible. That wasn't a problem when diesel was 25 cents a gallon but times are different now.

If you need to drive 75 mph because otherwise you can't get enough miles then you better find another company to drive for...
