well jamin22 as a former o/o i can tell u that when the trucks are governed @ 65 or any speed they have them set @, it is mostly an insurance issue. if they let those trucks run loose by driver's who all that they want to do is run wide open, when something does happen there is no reaction time. plus, they get huge discounts for the truck being governed @ a slower speed like 65 than being set @ 70 or faster; not to mention fuel mileage, wear & tear is cut in half, the reasons are almost endless. i had my trucks running WFO (wide freaking open), til 1 driver had an accident & my insurance told me to govern them or drop me; so i cut em back including mine. i could go on & on as well as others about this but there's no sense in running 75 (example) when u can drive 65 & make it there in the same amount of time.
why do drivers stand for governed trucks?

OOIDA had a judge in Canaa rule speed limiters were unsafe . So far it has had no effect on the law there.
If you've noticed , most of the governed trucks you pass in 70 mph zones are the ones passing trucks that are doing the speed limit in 55 and 60 mph zones .last 1, formertaxidriver, rodknocker and 3 others Thank this. -
well im not governed, just trying to stick up for you guys.
and as far as getting somewhere 15 minutes faster, the difference between 65 and 75 is 100 miles in a 10 hour driving day, not exactly insignificant in even 1 day, much less a week. sure there is less wear and tear, and all im saying is that the driver should see a lot of that is extra $/per mile.
i dont know why some of you see me as a bad guy, im sticking up for you. the company is saving tons of money by governing you, and most likely u aint seeing a dime of that. its BS. if all drivers stood up for their rights, companies would have to change, or no freight would be deliveredAlienPsychic51 Thanks this. -
well if the company is saving so much fuel (which they obviously do) they should be compensating the driver for all the lost time traveling under the speed limit. thats all im saying.
How do you KNOW that some if not all that you pass are not being compensated , you only assume that those GREEDY owners are pocketing all the $ being saved.
if all drivers stood up for their rights, companies would have to change, or no freight would be delivered
Here we go again , its never going to happen , you cannot get 6 drivers to agree on the correct time of day let alone these BIG shutdowns you all dream of. -
TRKRSHONEY, Jarhed1964 and HwyPrsnr Thank this.

well im making 47 cents as a company driver, and i know a lot of company drivers im passing (obviously not all) are in the 30's. plus im also in a fuel saving program where i get a bonus every quarter for fuel i save, so im safe to assume im right
-
i hope anyone that is debating me is the owner, otherwise its pretty weak.
"yea im happy being governed less than the speed limit, even though im paid by the mile, cause im saving my company money on fuel, wear and tear"... lol -
HwyPrsnr, losttrucker and TRKRSHONEY Thank this.

as long as they're willing to pay me the money i'm making now or more to drive their slow truck i'll do it; don't bother me none
