Yeap, I know, I leave from Minto ND which is 30 minutes north of Grand Forks. I run west to ND highway 18 then straight south to highway 2 at the rest area just west of Grand Forks. This shaves off about 30 ish minutes. I then head straight west to Williston or actually too hw 85 then north about 15ish miles to a warehouse up there. Then turn and burn back to Grand Forks to unload then back to the yard in Minto ND to park the truck and head home.
We also go to a place south and west of Tioga down by the lake. Again it is another trip that I can no longer log it as I run it.
If I was stuck running Elogs then I would be shut down just east of the Larimore rest area now that my truck is cut back.
Before they cut the truck back, I would run 71-72 mph all the time except for running through the towns and I could just make it back to the yard with a couple minutes to spare on my 11 and that was using the rounding of the 15 minute blocks to my advantage.
The only way to do this run now is to leave the day before, get out there, take a 10, load and burn back to GF to unload then burn back as far as the clock will allow and shut down for 10 then reload and do it all over again. The problem with doing that is that the plant in Grand Forks does not give the boss any notice or enough notice so that we can plan it. We usually don't know that we have to go out that way until it is too late to head out that way to take a 10.
I have asked the powers that be at the plant about this many times and they don't seem to care about log books etc. All they care is that they get their potatoes.
Anyway, got the call yesterday to come and hook up. I got a new truck this year but it has been sitting because we have been laid off since June, waiting for new crop. I have not turned a wheel with it pulling a trailer yet so I am kinda excited to test it out with 60,000 in the box.
The white one is the new one
why do drivers stand for governed trucks?

back in the 90's, it was one day out and partly back.
Basically you'd do two rounds in 3 days. I'd run a Super-B tanker for PowerFuels for an O/O. -
When you're fresh out of school, chances are that the only company you can get on with is a company that governs their trucks. What are they supposed to do? Refuse the job, because they can only go 65? You're a real genius.DrtyDiesel, NDBADLANDS, RickG and 1 other person Thank this. -
you get better fuel mileage. If you want to run your truck wide open buy a truck and waste all of your fuel just to get there a little quicker or faster. I promise you will make more money if you run 65 vs 70-75.
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
With showers food and waiting to get fuel, it does not matter if your truck gos a hundred miles an hour. Plus waiting to get loaded/unloaded.
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
i used to be more concerned, not so much anymore. i think if the speedlimit is 70 i should be able to do 70, but its the companies truck and i dont own the company. i would also add i think its safer if you DO go with the flow of traffic (the speed limit), i think its a safety concern when you have trucks going 58 mph in a 70 mph zone, let alone a 75 mph zone or faster.

I'm governed at 65 and usually run at 62-63. I have yet to be rear ended. -
its a fact, going with the flow of traffic reduces the risk of an accident substantially.. it makes sense, rather than 10,000 vehicles passing you in a day, you are more in control of your position in traffic, you arent being passed by EVERYONE and you arent a roadblock.

too much of ooida kool-aid
fland and joseph1135 Thank this. -
I love my 62 MPH Cascadia.... Would love it more if it did 64, but honestly if you need to go any faster then you need to look for a better job, seriously.
DrtyDiesel and fland Thank this.
