I got a triple digit Century and still only drive it around 65-67. Puts me right at 1375 on the tach.

I believe the insurance industry put pressure on some companies to govern their trucks, especially those that hire rookies, or not so good safety records. I may be wrong, but just a guess.

In my humble (but correct) opinion, the posted speed limit defines the MAXIMUM speed allowed by law. The minimum limit is often also posted which, though not really enforceable, does suggest that, if you can't do the minimum, you BETTER have your four-way's flashing.

I seldom if ever go the posted limit (and I am paid by the mile/loaded). It's called being a responsible and professional driver. If you are so wealthy and self-reliant that you can afford NOT to conserve fuel (this, for all you O/O's, then crank it up and pay speeding tickets too).

I'm now a company driver driving a company truck earning company pay checks. I may not care for the policies but I'm using their equipment at their expense and was promised a guaranteed weekly minimum income.

    I can live with that.

I strongly believe that if you can't make money at 60-65 MPH, you need a better paying job for sure.

Governed trucks are a road hazard. You take a two lane US highway, speed limit is 65, say in Kansas. Busy one like US 400 or 54. Trucks running 55 or even 60 back traffic up for miles it seems. All that does is make four wheelers attempt to pass in dangerous conditions. Passing numerous vehicles at one time, on hills, passing on shoulders. Simply because they want to run the speed limit or even 5 mph over, which won't get you a ticket. Yet so many seem to think governing a big truck under the speed limit is cool. When it's not. It's dangerous. Maybe if the drivers would slide over on the shoulder, when there's a big wide shoulder, and let traffic by safely, then there wouldn't be such dangerous actions by four wheelers or faster trucks.

Even on interstates, you see two slow trucks, one 62, one 62.5, setting side by side for miles. Speed limit 70 or 75, traffic backing up for days. IMO, they should be ticketed for impeding traffic. It creates way too much road rage and stupid actions by people. Mainly because of the inconsiderate driving habits of the drivers in the governed trucks. Jumping out in front of way faster traffic instead of waiting etc....

And to the smart guy who said "see ya in the ditch"....I've seen tons and tons of governed trucks flipped over or in ditches. It's the driver of a truck that puts a truck in a ditch or on the side.

If everybody on the road would use common sense and not only think about themselves there wouldn't be any problem.

It's all me, myself and I out there...

In the case you point at two trucks passing on the interstate , the driver being passed should lift for 30 sec. You are mad at the faster of the two but its the one in the right lane who can easily fix the issue! And I have had some of YOU professionals start changing lanes at your landing gear because I helt YOU up 45 secs. Yes i try to time myself. If holding up traffic FOR DAYS(?) , I will let off ,brake softly and fall back in line. About half the time supertrucker has tried to pass on the right. Where I needed to get to let YOU go ? Now which one is the pro ?

I always slow down and let them by if there's other traffic behind them. Its called being courteous which a lot of people arent these days

I just put a little bit of coal on the fire and get out of the pile-up. And haven't had to go above the speed limit yet to do it.
