A good percentage of the time the truck on the right speeds up. If Im running at 62 and come up on a truck moving slower I do not speed up to pass them, unless they speed up while Im passing, whuch happens al to often.
However if you pull up too close to me I will slow down. Tailgating is something I will not put up with. I will not pull out in front of a appraoching truck. I will wait till its clear, but I have had trucks pull out after I start to pass then they wait. Im not burning my fuel because they are impatient.
My tractor is not goverend, I decide the speed I travel, and I will try to get the best fuel mileage I can for the situation. As far as speed making a dfference on what I take home, keeping the door closed makes a bigger difference.
why do drivers stand for governed trucks?

I don't mind being slow on the road. 57 all day LOL. I watch the animals pass me by. Going 62 scares the bejesus outta me!

I cant believe this thread is still going on!, to the OP, you say your just sticking up for us?, that could only be true if we all thought like you, the fact remains, we dont, im governed at 72, and that plenty fast enough for me, I dont have the need to go any faster, I just stopped being an O/O last Oct. And didnt drive any faster than 65 then, If your driving a truck that ungoverned, or governed fast and thats what you like?, then this thread is pointless, why do you care if others are governed, If there are other that are in governed truck and hate it?, then look for another company to drive for, It's that simple

I used to run fast like 70/80 mph at night down here in south florida all the time till one night I hit a alligator a real one not a cap going about 78 maybe 80 i dont remeber much other than seeing him dart out of the tall grass on 721 or nine mile grade as its called I was told he was over ten feet long big enough to make me lose it!!
So I just hope all you fast driving super truckers are ready for what can happen its a lot worse at that speed when #### goes wrong. -
I hit an alligator once on Alligator Alley, but it was only about 7' long. It sure woke me up and I wasn't going but about 65 mph.
