Even at percentage, I might be willing to run 62 for the sake of fuel mileage, but to be capped there, unable to kick it if I need to get out of the way so a truck can get on the interstate when the option to merge left is removed by the vehicle there? No, thanks.
Not to mention these sights get pretty frustrating for all who see them from this angle..

Granted, I've seen the right sides of trailers from both companies, but I was grossing twice their max gross weight or more, so I don't feel so bashful about that.

I drive slow. I don't like being told what to do by a dispatcher, company owner soooo I bought my own truck got my own authority. I drive where I want and how I want lawfully.
That simple, buy your truck pay for fuel and any expenses, might make you see things different.

If youre not happy at a place. Leave, find another job. Lord knows any and everyone is looking for drivers.

okay then, w/your 4 years experience and the tone that your post,as I comprehend it,has, what other modules of pay can those that have your amount of experience or less, drive for/receive? I gather that you may be doing well but you may also have been fortunate. Elaborate please. Those that are forced to drive a slow truck due to inexperience or other, need the options that you are referencing. It is as if you are withholding pertinent information intentionally.

Thank you in advance on the behalf of the forum members that need to know.

I have 6 years actually. Just never update the profile.

I'm currently getting paid hourly. Pulling tankers Otr. Home every Friday. Holidays off. If I need home for a special event like a birthday I can get it all I do is ask. Only been with this company for 6 months. I get paid for every minute that I'm working. I get paid $20 for driving and $12 for all line 4. It equals roughly $1200 a week gross. Not bad for 5 days running. Normal average between 2200-2800 miles a week depending.
Before this I pulled reefers for percentage pay which is probably second best option to get paid. You get a percentage of each load, I was getting 24%. I was running about 2400 miles a week normally and grossing a little over $1000. I usually sat for at least 1 days a week too. Once again home every weekend unless I chose I stay out longer.
Before that I was on a dedicated account for Schneider pulling outta the target dc in Iowa. This would be my only way id be paid mileage. But I also got stop pay and short haul pay which boosted my pay from .38 to right around .59 on a lot of those loads. I was grossing about $1000-1200 a week on that account also.
There are good paying jobs out there you just have to look for them. If your not making a minimum of $1000 a week then your with the wrong company. If you HAVE to run 3000+ miles every week in order to make that $1000 your with the wrong company. Work smarter not harder driver.

Goverened trucks may be a good thing in a way......? Not trying to down anyone but, not everyone can pull a 40,000lb +/- single coil across rt #73 between 32 and 104 in Ohio just outside Portsmouth. Just using that as an example, and I'm sure quite a few here have driven it and understand my point. But as stated earlier, when it's another man / womans truck then you need to deal with it or find another company or just get your own truck, crank it up to run and have at it.

my truck at JCT was governed at 72mph. however since it was a lease I was always looking to the bottom line and kept my speed about 62-65.

it worked, we paid off $40,000 in debt in about two years.....:biggrin_25525:

I drive a governed truck. It is the companies business decision to do it. Based on where I live, and the fact that most companies won't even hire me there, I do what I gotta do. Are there companies that will hire me there and let me drive faster? Yep, pulling crappier equipment for .10cpm less. Am I keeping my ears and eyes open for better options? Of course. But until I find the better option, I just leave the CB off so I don't have to listen to every 3rd driver whine about my speed as he or she goes by.

I don't mind driving a governed truck, while everyone is tailgating and competing to get a step up on one another, i get my space, granted sometimes it would be nice to have that extra little bit to pass, but overall i don't mind,
