Why do I need a DOT# to sign up for load boards?

I know you want specifics. And I wish I had thought of that before. But heres a idea.
I dont own right yet. But this is what I have been doing. What ever miles and detention I have at the end of the week. I times it by $1.85. Loaded and not. And if I dont make $2200 to @2900 that week in fake money. I figure ive done some thing wrong. Then I review the week to see what I could have done different.
For me I lose a ton on alternet routing. Trying to avoid construction and accidents. Because those are un paid miles. I think in Indy. West bound 70. To avoid a back up and slow moving single lane traffic. From exit. 132 to exit 123. I went 16 miles off route. Got back on 70. But further back in the pack than I started. Lost fake. Money buy real time.

 

There are some trucking companies that have load boards that anyone can see.
