Very true, I often pull 14 hr days and I have a 1 1/2 hr round trip commute to and from the yard.
Do the math and it doesn't leave a lot of time to eat sleep and shower up.
Most days are 12-13 but 14 isn't uncommon.

Ha, that's funny, I've heard that before. I tell you what, I wouldn't drive during the day now to save my soul.. Get a truck with a deer guard, and knock 'em into next week, but just driving my pickup during the day is NUTS!!!

    Mr Ed Thanks this.

If you carry a log book and aren't paid by the hour, you're not a local driver. Just sayin.

Have been running day cab for 7 years, That stupid 30 minute break, the route sometimes only place is a truck stop for chow/poop/sleep and others for fuel. Nothing mysterious, we are truckers too :biggrin_2554::biggrin_2559:

That is pure BS. So many different company policies to make that broad statement. Ever have a safety good idea fairy management at a local company require log books round trips @ 18 miles and percentage? The percentage worked out well, Over $20hr, Eliminated the lazy folks.

I have a log book and I'm pretty sure I'm a local driver.

I work Monday through Thursday. I start at 3pm and usually end at 1am, sometimes later. I get paid by the hour, with time and a half after 8 hours, and double time after 12 hours. Double time and a half on holidays.

Yes, it's definitely harder than driving a straight line in open highways but I like sleeping in my own bed at night.
