Why do my straps do this, and how to stop it?

I'll concede two things here, 1. Your plate says it's strong enough to tie to, and 2. "Supposed to" was maybe too strong a phrase from me

I'm speaking from the experience of running the opposite of op, had a reitenour for a few years (maximiser) and am now under a fontaine

All I can say is that reitenour s shorter rubrail (compared to the fontaine) makes hooking straps under the bottom lip "look" right

If I hook to this fontaine s lip, it does the same thing, kinda hangs floppy.

I had many instances I had to hook the reitenour rubrail (flat hook ratchet winches on the winchtrack side) it did fine, but never looked or felt right

Even super tight it can start going like a guitar strings. The longer it flies the bigger the shake. The twist usually keeps it from getting the required are flow conditions for the strap to start vibrating. The vibration can cause wear and fraying at any corner and also cause damage to the load of close to the strap.

Couple things you may run into in the future that need a half twist to keep from flapping; I won’t be able to get the strap taut* enough not to crush them damage the product even with very stout edge protectors.

beveled cedar siding, iso insulation both come to mind

I dont believe the straps are the issue.

The Reitnouer rub rail is shorter than the majority of trailers. Compare pictures ( if you have them ) of the amount of space between the reflective tape on your Reitnouer to old trailer you pulled.

Almost a guarantee their is more space on the older combo trailer top&bottom from the reflective tape than the Reitnouer you bought.

I was initially stumped when I bought my new trailer as I used the same straps and never had that problem... Come to find out the rail was a different size.

Been doing it this way for years. It's legal and it won't come off. Or add a tie bar under the trailer. I just added my tie bar, but since some guy felt the urge to tear apart my last post where I assisted a guy, your on your own for pointers. Sorry pal.
