I have to agree. Texas is a great state to flatbed in. Very easy to get around, with the possible exception of Dallas and Houston! The DOT officers and state troopers are friendly most of the time, but they don't give a lot of leniency when it comes to running illegal (so I've heard). I will say this: In my early days of trucking, I was pulled over twice around San Antonio for speeding. Neither officer gave me a ticket. They just pulled me over, asked me to slow down, and sent me on my way.

I remember something about that... it was a few months back... some company had a list of trucks stops and places in Texas where they did not want their drivers to park or stay overnight because of crime.. there is something about it on this site... the post was about the list being at tne terminals. .
Sorry that is all I remember. . Cant remember what company or anything else.. -
Idk , I love driving in TX.
I have not seen one sign down there that says " no trucks "tow614 Thanks this. -
They seem to forget big trucks in road design. Corners too tight @ 40 ft king pin. Even the new construction along 820 has this problem.
And the city 4 wheelers are just "special". -
Who comes up with this stuff?

I ran west Texas, New Mexico, and AZ for 18 years before making the decision to stay home mostly. I miss it everyday

Freight rates, maybe?

I like driving in TX. They know how to build a rest stop. The rest rooms have country music and are clean. CA on the other hand, With their freeze/sweat to death no idle law is unfriendly to truckers. Does a Trucker have to die out there before this insane revenue generating law is repealed? Or are we considered expendable? What would it take?
SheepDog Thanks this. -
well since this is an open deck forum--Im going to take a stab at it--and it may have something to do with the availability of outbound loads vs loads available--there has been a very surge in inbound flat freight due to the punching holes in the ground--pretty much all over south texas--and I do see on a very very regular basis--lots and lots of mt decks..cloggin ts apparantly waiting or looking to get out...
