I know this is an old message, but for most normal careers , jumping to another company is the ONLY way to get a salary bump , and if you jump to a new company every three years for a 30% bump , it adds up after a few jumps .

most normal jobs , the companies simply won’t pay the existing employees the market rate , you have no choice but to jump to get more money .

the company I work for is a great example .
We’ve had employed leave and get paid DOUBLE at the new place, for doing the same job .

I haven’t left because I also value the flexibility and home time and lack of micromanaging. But I am late in my career and the flexibility with my work/life balance means more to
Me than the salary bump .

Most trucking companies pay about the same money and it's usually just a lateral move at best.

Live-in-truck OTR guys do 72k-95k solo w2, regional and local w2 42k-72k. That's van and reefer and flatbed and stepdeck and doesn't include Walmart and LTLs where they pay for more actions.

Tanker does 72k+ and you're home a lot full benefits

LTL and Walmart are 68k-140k cause they pay for all the stuff you do, and you're home a few days a week unless P&D

O/O varies wildly but van, reefer, flatbed, stepdeck stuff is mostly 1.20-3.20 a mile right now on load boards; .60 less than it was before covid across all equipment types, and fuel is almost three dollars higher than it was before covid... Gross isn't net no matter what the internet says...

FYI: This industry is full of lies... Recruiters AND drivers...

Before covid it was nothing but the older drivers and a bunch of people who didn't fit in to 9-5... The yuppie and khaki-dad stuff didn't come till about 2021 when they decided trucking was acceptable all the sudden or had no choice...

You can't make fun of Swift or Western anymore cause everyone fast-seated untrained drivers since then...
