Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

You think every European cabover is ugly, nothing new there.

Now suppose you have to wait in your truck for an hour or more, the weather is horrible, rain, wind etc. What would you rather do, switch off the engine, switch on the stand heater, make some coffee or have a cold drink, lay down on your bunk for a nap, or walk around your truck, admire all the beautiful chrome, and sit in your cramped cab for the whole time listening to the sound of your idling engine?

There is nothing unique about that. All of those things can be had on American trucks. Small sleepers on local trucks. No idle solutions. Inverters. Coffee makers. Honestly though what local delivery driver has the time to make drinks and cook, etc? I don't have time for that sort of nonsense running regional otr. I have none of those things in my truck. Trucks are a tool right? Who has time to play house when there is work to be done?

Of course you can have these things on American trucks. But your standard day cabs are like the black Kenworth cab that Cat showed, while ours are those in the Australian video clip. A world of difference.
Furthermore, sometimes you have to wait before you can load or unload your truck, and you have to take your rest periods.

I would do the job despite a little bad weather, pour myself a nice cup of coffee from my thermos when I was done, and drive home or to a nice motel, where I could look out the window and admire a nice looking truck that is shut off.

Yes it is, but as 98989 also confirmed, you will never see this kind of cab on a tractor here. no one wants this cab when they buy a used tractor. This cab is used on box trucks etc. A box truck has a maximum length of 12 metre, in that case a short cab is what you want for maximum load volume. On a tractor the extra length of the cab I showed has no influence on the load capacity.
