Put that old Daf on a gravel road and I can promise you that the guy who holds camera would you jump out of it fast!
Daf 3600 was the first truck i drove when I got my licens 1992, and all vacations from school I followed my father in his 3600 with a 17 meter trailer. He had that truck for 8 year and a million kilometers. Horrible truck! No fancy 4 point cab suspension there, just 2 shock absorbers in the back. I couldn't drink a soda or read magazines while he was driving. Later he got lucky and got a Scania 143 streamline until retirement!
I remember also that we got a Daf 2800 with 13 speed fuller in it. The ugliest truck, but also the coolest because the (in sweden) unusual transmission! I liked it, but I was only 15 so I could only drive it round and round and round the garage. And maybe on the streets at nightsome maybe

Does it matter if you are in a conventional or cabover if ypu ramm a fremeless trailer in high speed? Seems that results are the same most of the times: frame of truck goes under the trailer floor. pushing the tandems forward and the cab is practically inside the trailer. The funeral is next friday:(

it is good as long as you dont hit container trailer, or heavy construction tipper trailer.

worst truck involved crash we had, in 2006, had 67mph, loaded with steel, 8 vehicles were involved in crash, 4 dead persons, driver just break leg

To make this very clear, I never claimed that the 3600 was a miracle of comfort. There was a clip with an old Kenworth K100 cabover, and everything in that cab was vibrating. The question was if a DAF from the same era would be better. I think the clip showed it is.

Look at the clips again and look at the roads. I know that the daf would rattle just as much on a dirt road

Thats a statement on how poorly the truck was treated by owners/drivers. My k100 had three times that many miles and the interior was in great shape when i sold it. Heck it was in better shape than many trucks today that are only a few months old.

    Little reminder of the past..
"When we bought DAF in 1996, many in the European press asked why?” Sobic recalled, noting the company was in bankruptcy and not noted for high-quality products. The appeal, he said, was the company’s experience in global engine manufacturing with more than 900,000 engines produced in 50 years.

The acquisition, bolstered by a nearly $1 billion investment, laid the foundation for the company’s new lineup of Paccar MX engines. Sobic said the engines have undergone more than 300,000 test hours and more than 50 million North American test miles. The feedback from customers, he said, is improved fuel economy, quiet operation and ample pulling power. The engines are EPA/CARB 2010 certification in all 50 states.
Words like not high quality product and only ample pulling power.

So it is your interpretation that Paccar bought DAF because they had produced 900,000 low quality engines? And then DAF designed the MX engine for them? Makes no sense.

what do you mean by 'only ample'?

This is what the dictionary says about the word ample:
    1. ample more than enough in size or scope or capacity
    2. ample, copious, plenteous, plentiful, rich affording an abundant supply
    3. ample, sizable, sizeable fairly large

    What's wrong with ample?
