Strange that no one reacted on the Tatra videos, after all those trucks have a unique design.

Do you think something like this would be a good tractor for the Iceroad Truckers?

really any EU truck may be specified for any market, including US market.

US truck also may be used in Europe, but with some mods, like headlamps, taillamps....

It is funny, but freightliner tows EU trailer in Europe with oversize permit) LOL

Oh sure, there are a few around. Mostly for promotional purposes, not for real work. You would get stuck with such a semi at the first roundabout.

instead of developing electronic loaded cabovers make your roads wider. nobody will buy your cabovers in us market. USA cities have enough wide space for conventional trucks. the day cab conventional truck with 36 or 48 feet trailer can sneakk almost everywhere

Yes, I know. But I have a copy of a 500 year old city map of my home town. And I can use it to find my way in the city, no problem. Some of the buildings are even older. We're not going to take them down for NA style trucks I'm afraid. And that is the same all over Europe, streets and roads that are hundreds and sometimes a few thousand years old. And very old buildings too.

My supermarket gets its supplies with a short semi. A single axle tractor, and a trailer with two axles, one of them steerable. It's on the street in front of the supermarket, and then it backs up, making a right angle and driving backwards to the loading dock. A NA tractor couldn't even do that, let alone a complete semi.

I see. Thanks god streets and roads are in good size in USA except in very few states. In Europe only Greece has few thousand years old buildings. Could be very few in Italy but no more than 2000 year old. Old building must be saved. The history must be protected. I was born in the city wich was build in 782 BC. And old fortress is still exist and protected.

really I cant see any reason for european lenth law from bupet to bumper

EU hightways are very good and I had no any problem on narrow streets

And IMO, I want to let longer and heavier trucks run on roads

    Thanks for replying.

I do know what an Oshkosh is, but that truck is far bigger. The cab of Tatra in the snow may have confused you, but it is basically the same truck as the Phoenix in the earlier videos.

The Phoenix has a more modern cab, and the same Paccar engine as in the Kenworth trucks, combined with a 16 speed ZF automatic. Of course all differentials can be locked and so on.

Tatra built an arctic version of the Phoenix for use in Siberian mines. Everything is heated, the oilpan, the transmission, the fuel, the Adblue, even the batteries.

Put one on high speed flotation tires (like on an agro-truck), and use good snow chains (not the simple ones I see on Iceroad Truckers), and there you go.

Have you seen the wheeltravel on those Tatra's? I've seen several instances on Iceroad Truckers where a truck got stuck just because the wheels lost touch! That can't happen with a Phoenix.
