You mean the mirrors that have been standard for like 50 years now? Or the video camera side views that can be had for the past 10 years? You guys think you invented air ??? Those side bars are EU side under ride specs. Trying to protect people who T boning you. They toyed with mandating those here, but the added weight was going to hurt productive or raise the weight limits. That mirror over the pass window , you can see in the picture above on the red truck.
The K200 sells wonderfully in Australia, and may one day in the US. US exports the Argosy . Is available here as a Glider. And have myself thought about getting one myself. But face it the MX Paccar engine, really built the fence that much higher. That was so post to have been "proven" by years of use in Europe!

I think you will find there is a bit of a difference between your 50 year old mirrors and these mirrors. You see, I happen to live in a country where there are more bicycles then people, and where schoolchildren use a bicycle to go to school, even over distances of 10 miles and more. Over the past few decades a lot of effort has been made to design the perfect mirrors and mirror set up. Trucks are visiting elementary schools to show children how to behave when they meet trucks in traffic. And still about 20 people die each year and about 50 get seriously wounded when they get under a truck that is turning right. You have absolutely no idea how it is for a truck driver to drive through narrow streets surrounded by flocks of cyclists. We now have bicycle congestion problems in our major cities!
These are lightweight aluminium bars, they are not meant to stop cars.
Yes, and I can also see that the driver can never see a small child on a bicycle near the right front wheel. That truck would be extremely dangerous over here.
I just read about 15 pages on this forum about a guy who really had big problems with his MX, I'm very sorry for him. After reading a few of his posts it became clear to me he had electrical problems. Later on some one did find at least one bad connector. There's nothing wrong with the engine as such, but perhaps Paccar US saved a bit to much on the cabling. DAF is the #1 tractor seller in Europe, do you really think that this could happen if the MX engines are bad?

If you read about other brand's issues like Freightliner and Volvo, the biggest problem is the long waiting times and lack off good technicians at the dealers.

@Caesar, read more threads about people who are broke down. It isn't uncommon for then to be a week at the dealer before anything gets done.

How difficult would it be for a American with a CDL and experience to get a truck driving job in the EU?

I lived with a girl for many years from Milan in the US. She moved back years ago and now lives in Switzerland.
My biggest hurtle to me moving over there was what to do for a income.

I spent quite a bit of time driving cars over there, the interstate seems safer than the US because people seem to stay out of the left lane unlike. In the US.

What can you do in EU to make your truck yours? Personality??? Not just stickers or paint?
