really log business in Ukraine is very popular and Karpaty forest drivers are considered the best here.

they use old KRAZ ore Ural chassis with engines from junk yards, and palfinger cranes

They move wood from forest to yards where wood reloaded to semis

One of the arguments I read against cab-over is that these cabs are less save then a conventional cab. It reminded me of an article about a crash test that I once read in a German car magazine. I think it was about 20 years ago, but the principle remains the same.

They crashed a VW Golf against a Japanese 4x4, I think it was a Nissan Patrol. The results were shocking, you would think the Nissan would hardly have a scratch, but in fact the whole passenger compartment was crushed. They didn't use the latest model at the time, but when they informed the German distributor, he was also shocked and sent them the latest model for the same test, with the same results. People in the VW Gold would have been far better off if this had been real crashes.

The story repeated itself years later when the Chinese wanted to import a SUV into Europe, the car was called Landwind if I recall correctly. After a crash test it became clear that the body of the car was far to weak, it also was crushed after the test.

So looks can deceive with these matters. A conventional truck may look much saver, but that doesn't have to be the case.

I have some nice videos from Volvo to show you how strong a cab-over can be. The first one is of a little girl playing with a Volvo truck:

The second one shows some actual crashtests:

volvo conventionals and cabovers share cab substructure, but if u have Volvo VN with big sleeper, roof is made of plastic and not so strong as EU cab

every trucking company got its boneyard and I saw many wrecked trucks, and IMO, in front collosion US tricks are bit better, but roll over crash smashes classical US cabin like a tin.

The first US truck that holds roll over crash is Century Classm but not FLD !

Early US cabovers were for komikadze drivers, K100 ore FLA gives u no chance to survive if u run in trailer tail at 40 mph

Russian KAMAZ cabs are better then US classical cabover!!!!! But I saw deadly accidents
