Do that, and ask for a quote for a brand new 2016 Argosy. If you can get one, I will call Freightliner and ask them why the Argosy is not on their web site.
No, by its very definition a glider can never be a new truck. A glider is (suppose to be) a refurbished old truck. It uses the registration papers and parts of an old truck. A glider is never delivered as a complete truck from the factory. If you order a power glider it will have an engine, but no rear axle. You will have to install that yourself (or have it installed by someone). If you 'refurbish' a 2003 Argosy, the resulting truck has to comply with the 2003 regulations, not with the 2016 regulations. It is a kind of legalized fraud, to evade today's emission laws and to evade you from paying the 12% FET tax.,
Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

It's perfectly legal. Smart people look for ways to avoid paying taxes. Besides everyone knows they are extorted at the threat of your life and liberty and then wasted on official government fraud. You may live here and even be a citizen but it is obvious culturally you are a very different frame of mind.

in 2015 we had ability to purchase new pre-emission truck in Ukraine, this year we can only import Euro-5 ore EPA2010 vehicle. Of course local truck maker offers truck with DEF too.

Guess he missed the part about our gliders being LNG powered . Yeah we had to hang the transmission. But 70% of the "new" truck and save the 12% tax. Oh yeah close to 0 emissions... Real dumb idea, your right Ceasar. And yes the dealer can get a Argosy day you pick it up drive it off the lot. He just has to hang the trans, with full warranty that route. Oh little over half price of the "new" truck. Caesar just because you say so doesn't make it so.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
You're absolutely right, with a LNG engine you have very clean emissions. But you're not trying to tell me that all gliders are getting LNG engines are you? The vast majority will get an old 'dirty' diesel engine, in fact I read a warning that you have to install some kind of filter to your exhaust if you want to use such a truck in California.
I never denied that you can get a new Argosy glider from your dealer. Of course not, they are listed on the Freightliner website. However you can not buy a brand new 2016 Argosy truck with registration papers that say that this truck was build in 2016, and that is what I asked for. I even don't know if it is possible to build a 2016 Argosy that complies to the current regulations. A glider only has to comply to the regulations that were in force at the time of the official date of build on the registration papers, let's say some 10 years ago. -
Its the DPF that is required in California. This is basic stuff , and yet you do not know, yet you act as a expert...

yes, in Ukraine we use old frames with VIN and paperwork to fit newer parts (usually from wrecked yard),
Really this is way to build other vehicle on old chassis -
Well, if you're not buying brand new, troublesome, costly, unnecessary components and paying outrageous taxes then you are obviously doing something very wrong (*sarcasm*) It's always funny these people on their high horses pointing fingers at everyone else, looking down on them and calling them stupid. Presuming to know what is best for us all. Usually they are not the ones paying excessive 12% excise taxes and most likely are the very leeches benefitting from such waste.

And if one is so concerned about pollution, emissions and the like - as if the end of the world is very near because of all the propoganda saying so - then they should be in full support of refurbishing and rebuilding over buying new. Refurbishment produces a much smaller carbon footprint print than producing something new from raw materials. Manufacturers who take in old cores to refurbish and rebuild to the same condition as brand new actually brag about the reduced carbon footprint of doing so. In an effort to placate those people who are impressed by such nonsense.
