IMO, all emission laws are politics to reduce oil dependance.

IMO, age of electric vehicles is coming.

In Ukraine electric buses are tested in Lvov, and here in Kiev converted by owner electric bus is on route.

Some enthusiasts convert fourwheelers to electric power and after that do not want to go back to gas.

I fit LPG tank under my van and I'm really happy to pay about 30% for fuel!

    Well said rollin coal.
I would be very interested in a non-partisan, unbiased study of the total impact on our environment of all the global regulations mandating the production and purchase of "green" technology.

The modern trucks with all the emission crap are starting to get better mileage, but imagine how efficient they would be if DEF,EGR,DPF, were not a requirement but only technology that improved efficiency was adopted. And with the downtime that these regulations have caused the trucking industry, how many more trucks (from raw materials mined around the world - more carbon footprint) have been produced just to keep up with demand. And this means more plastic body parts, more tires, etc.

I still believe that the market place will provide what the human race needs, without being mandated to do so.

Do you know you can run a diesel engine on LPG too? The engine pulls in an air and LPG mixture (just as with a gasoline engine) and the mixture gets ignited by injecting a tiny amount of diesel. Very low emissions.

GAS engine can easily be converted to LPG

For trucks Daimler makes engines marked with LAG, Cummisl makes G marked engines (ISLG).

Really they share cylinddr block, crankshaft, geartrain with diesel engines, but they hava spark plugs, gas injectors, throutle, catalistic converter.... They burn a bit more LPG than diesel, but LPG ore NG is much cheapper, and clean.

LPG is easy to carry in tank, but... CNG requires heavy tanks. Yes, LPG and NG is not so dangerouse as high octane gas, but CNG tank is under high pressure, LNG slowly drains fuel.

Lets look at garbage truck fire

first of all, CNG tank holds heat for long time and wont blowing, it just safety valve opens, and fuel burns in air.

If gas ore diesel fuel spilled on pavement catches fire - it is very big problem.

100 gal tank may burn small community.

Big problem of CNG that pressure inside this tank is ten times higher thn in your brake system tank

and what is the most dangerouse time of CNG tank life? Filling! And really CNG tanks must be cheked annualy, and anyway they blow, and kill, but tires kill more!

Not that simple, but yes that's the way the Rockport Cummins works in a sense.
