I will try one more time , I have no issue with the EU trucks. Do have a issue with some one insisting every one else has to use them ...

It is insane to imply that the modern DEF / DPF outfitted diesel egines are more fuel efficient. You can't add back pressure to an internal combustion engine and improve efficiency. Add to that the problems with sensor failures, and the average fuel economy drops quite significantly. Add to that the enormous costs of replacing parts, towing trucks to the shop for system failures, shop time, etc, the new engines are not anywhere close to as "clean" as advertised. But the city folk dig it.
A glider is a much more environmentally friendly solution, by re-using existing engines, upgraded with higher performance parts to improve fuel economy. And where we live, the "pollution" it creates simply doesn't make a difference due to the low population densities.
Aerodynamics of the tractor are only a minor consideration when I spec a truck. Right now, I have a 2.3 meter trailer gap. The reason is that I run over-weight, and in order to carry that much weight, I have to lengthen the vehicle. I can't lengthen the trailer, so I have to lengthen the tractor to meet the bridge laws (and Oregon's idiots version of the bridge formula). My payload increases by 22% by increasing fuel cost by 15%. No-brainer. I can get almost all of that back by adding aero treatments to the trailer.Bean Jr. Thanks this.
