You couldn't pay a west coast logger enough to drive one of those in the bush. Not saying its a POS or anything, its actually a pretty nice setup. Only thing is you flop that over the bank you're history. No amount of engineering in a steel cab will ever be as strong as a 2000lb cast iron engine block.

The center steer is driven ? Looks like it. Should be rated at 148000lb . Now just mount a dump body on it .

I think all 3 steers are dead axles. That black thing on the hub of the center steer axle is actually a step to get up into the cab. Not sure what the weight rating on the quad drive axles is. Depending on the jurisdiction you can go to about 24k kg's on tridem axle grouping. As a rough estimate I would guess its probably around 54k kgs or 120k lb range.

There was a Pete 378 logging truck running around the Hinton/Edson, AB area with quad drive axles. There are pics on Hank's forum of it.

Big difference between ratings and what's legal. The rear ratings should be 88k then 20k each on the steers. Up to the state and the bridge law to what is allowed.

Yup. Could even be 92k rears if they're 23k lb axles. Bet that truck has dual 3/8" frame rails too. Bet that'd be fun to turn with all 4 drives and inter axle locked in.

It's really rediculous to think we don't have or can't build trucks that heavy in NA. Nice pics @sdaniel Since this is a big pissing match already can someome tell me who caused the Germans to raise a white flag twice in the 20th century and also sent men to the moon? Was it a European country? I give credit to the Russians for bleeding the Germans out the second time but of course we all know the arsenal of democracy wasn't in Europe.

Those European trucks I am sure do good for what they are. What we have over here works fine for us too. Seems the common theme here is differing regulatory burdens produce different industrial outcomes. No surprise there. Though not a "true" European Volvo I did have experience driving VNL670's for several years. I had a 2004 and a 2007 model when I was an employee driver. The 2004 had a 450 Cummins. The 2007 had a d12 I think it was rated at 465hp? The Cummins out pulled it and was more efficient. That d12 was a really weak engine. If you had it wound up it would hold OK but if you ever had to let off the accelerator you could forget getting your momentum back quickly. The ISX was noticeably more powerful. And again more efficient on fuel. These two trucks were the exact same specs other than motors.

One question for you experts, are Euro4 emissions really cleaner than current EPA mandates with our 2011 and newer trucks? There are some really nice 389 Petes with chrome steamboat exhaust pipes (LMAO) that "burn cleanly" if one thinks that's the end all be all.
