Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

No, not really. You take a simple frame, a big lump of cast iron with eight big holes, a suspension system that is borrowed from a carriage from queen Victoria's days (as the boys from Top Gear once so nicely put it), and ready is the muscle car. No sophistication what so ever. You can't actually steer them, you more or less point in the direction you want to go. Richard Hammond from Top Gear once tested a small Cadillac, and he was amazed to find you could steer it around a corner. But that Cadillac was based on the chassis of a European Opel Omega if I'm not mistaken.

Holden. The Holden factory here exported our Holden Monaro with 5.7 and 6.0 liter V8 to US as rebadged Pontiac GTO. They also made a 7.0 liter Monaro just for us here. Using Chev engines as Holden is part of GM but made here.

Top gear tested our Holden Monaro (exported as Vauxhall Monaro to GB) and they loved it. There is a YouTube link somewhere, not hard to find.

Yes, I remember that. It had a big V8, but handled more or less like a European car. The Australians took the best of both worlds so to speak.

But it is function. I don't like "roo" bars, but many trucks here have them to protect against deer. The high scoops keeps the intakes above the dusty air down low.

Oh yeah, I understand the "roo" bars, kangaroos and cows. The whole shape of the truck already is pure baroque, and then all those chrome parts to make it even worse.
