My old man ran one of those Liebherr dozers when the mine demoed a few. Its bigger than a 10, smaller than an 11. He didn't mind it but the vast majority of operators prefered the CATs.

I don't want to be mean, but I think there are very few US products that stand for its quality and dependability in the global market (Maybe the ones that I can remember at this time are the Aircraft engines, the Caterpillar machinery and some GE products), but in general the US brand products, especially those made in US and Mexico are known for its regular to low quality but cheaper prices versus the same products from Germany and Japan to say some other countries.

That's why, at least in my country, the medium duty trucks market is dominated by the Japaness brands, Hino and Isuzu (while a couple of decades ago the market was dominated by GMC and International Harvesters) and the long distance bus market is full of Mercedes, Scania and Volvo, and a lot of locally designed chasis featurig an Isuzu 15L engine.

The Japanese know how to build equipment and they design it so its easy to work on too. I've mentioned it waaaay back in the thread that I've had the misfortune of working for a dealer that sold some European machines and they were just straight up garbage. Nothing but electrical faults. Worst for downtime over anything else we sold.

Liebherr-International AG in Bulle (Switzerland) is the central holding company of the Group.
Dozers are part of Liebherr-Mining Equipment SAS, in Colmar (France)
The production facility for these dozers is in Telfs Austria.

    Liebherr-International Deutschland GmbH
    Hans-Liebherr-Straße 45
    88400 Biberach an der Riß
    Deutschland

It is a family owned company, at the moment the third generation of the Liebherr family is in control.

It is registered as a Swiss company, in the same way that for example CNH (Case-New Holland, Iveco, FPT) is officially a dutch company.

Indeed, the administrative seat of a company has no real meaning. Ikea for instance is officially a Dutch company.

Yes, just like CNH (Iveco/FPT/Case New-Holland) is registered in The Netherlands.

Big difference is that CNH only has a head quarter and not much else in The Netherlands, for Liebherr in Bulle it is a bit different:

    Liebherr in Switzerland

Still, the bulldozers are produced in Austria, not in Germany.....

When you read this page carefully, you will find that there are five different Liebherr companies at this address, including the holding company
Liebherr has production facilities all over the world, never the less, they consider themselves as a family owned German company.
