I get it. Figures published in legally binding annual reports can not be trusted, for proper information check with some DAF sales guy somewhere in Poland. Makes a lot of sense.
By the way, I don't smoke, and I have never smoked. Smoking is a very stupid deadly habit, and I have been aware of that practically all of my life.
Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

Exactly, you are comparing production figures, and I'm speaking about strictly sales figures for a little guy, no huge Girteka orders, which are being ordered directly in Eindhoven, not via small dealerships.
Reality is, they really have problems to negotiate good price from Eindhoven, trucks are sitting long time on stock, and with all problems related to facelifted XF, they really had problems to sell last year.
Around september the price for basic 480 space cab was around 87-88k euro, same as Scania R450. And I'm sorry, but as much as I'm not big fan of Scania too, it would be easy choice.spsauerland and spyder7723 Thank this. -
Every truck manufacturer sells large quantities of trucks to fleet owners, nothing special about that. You simply have no way of knowing which part of the production is going to fleets, and which part is for single sales, you're just guessing. Furthermore, the sales figures of one dealer in one country are hardly representative for all dealers in all countries.
that the price of a Scania 450 is about the same as that of a DAF XF is not surprising either. Both trucks are manufactured in the Netherlands. more Scanias are produced here than in Sweden. -
It seems the people of New Amsterdam want a more quiet city:

Price is not the same Caesar, that's your problem, you've never bought a truck.
Good price for Daf is 75-78 max, Eindhoven may want to sell premium truck, but reality is that's how much it's worth. It always was, and will be cheap truck, just above Iveco and Renault.
Scania has been always the most expensive truck (I always laugh, that the same truck without Scania badge would be a lot cheaper) but situation last year was that Scania sales was down due to high price, they have lowered the price, and at the same time Eindoven went crazy because of that huge Girteka purchase and didn't want to talk about any discount. So you could buy Daf and Scania around the same price, choice was easy.
I don't know what's situation right now, but I've heard that Daf prices are getting low again, so sales will go up.
That's how free market works, but don't tell me that Daf is the best truck ever, with high sales and no competition on market. I may see only small part of overall european market, but price of every single truck changes over the year, and situation at the end of last year for Daf wasn't the best. And I don't believe that what happens in Gdańsk, doesn't happen anywhere else.Humblepie, haycarter, medioker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Having just purchased a new Eco-boost, I hope they are fairly reliable. This is the first non-diesel vehicle that I have purchased for twenty years.SAR, haycarter, snowman_w900 and 2 others Thank this.

Just for some perspective, a well balanced dozer on firm material can manage to climb a 100% slope (1 to 1), but barely.
I cannot imagine the scenario requiring a truck to descend one.Humblepie, SAR, 98989 and 1 other person Thank this. -
An Unimog can climb a 100% slope.98989 Thanks this.

That was just stated by @98989.
-
Actually he referenced to the DAF CF going down a 100% slope, and him doing the same in an Unimog.
