I was responding to a message from @Cat sdp , and I used his terminology. I could have started the whole discussion again, but what's the use.

The way i see it : Tatra's concept is highly appericated around EU (everyone here, heard about rura system), but sales figures don't support it. So as much as the whole idea is great, it's just not need that much in real life.

I actually spoke to a friend of mine today, he is trying to buy 4 axle dumper. His brother uses 6x6, and his whole familly tells him, buy 8x8. But you know what he found out? It would be actually cheaper to buy 8x4, which is lighter, has bigger payload, and those very few occasions, where real awd is needed, just use excevator for help, or a crane as Caesar calls them :D:D:D

That's what really matters in real life, nor nice tatra rura concept.

Ginafs and Terbergs are extremly nice from technical point of view (i'm engineer myself, with degree in transport), but are completely useless in real life, where nobody can fix them.

as you are from ####ty ex communism country same as me, where tatra was used before, you probably know older drivers who actually used those trucks. except its terrain capabilities you will never heard anything good.
i was like 3-4 year old when my father bought me 3axle tatra (rigid axles) with white cab and red tipper body, it was large truck 3ft long, i was angry on him and crying as my brother get 2axle MB LP.

about tube system. it have good and bad sides. market obviously had decided what is optimum.
some bad things about tube: working anything about it would take lot of workhours of disassembling
some torsion is still transfered to tube and its components were not most suitable for it
swing axles are not as strong as real axles and some play will lead to huge problems, both for joins and internal components of transmission which will lead to increaded wear of gears and bearings
guidance system have big task to keep all together since it is not rigid axle
how about preventing water and dirt to get into tube on join between halfaxle and tube, rubber cover will eventually start to leak

my father had t148 in late 1970s

AWD tippers are very normal here, in fact MAN and MB produce special 5 axle tippers just for the Netherlands.

    Your 8 x 4 has a GVW of 32 tonne, a 6 x 6 with wide spread tandem can have a GVW of 34.5 tonne over here.
An 8 x 8 Tatra with wide spread axles can have a GVW of 46 tonne, that is 14 tonne more than your 8 x 4. Don't you think a bit more traction comes in handy with so much weight?

Massachusetts hauls 99,000 on five axles no all wheel drive needed.......no bridge law.

28’ dump trailers and 6X4 tractor..... drop trailer and pull something else if construction is slow.......

Not too long ago I showed a video of a company that is refurbishing old Tatra 315 trucks. The trucks are as good as new when they leave the factory. There must be a great demand for them, otherwise no one would do this.
No, not really. The other companies compete with each other, all using the same kind of technology. Tatra never was a competitor to them. However I can assure you that it must have been a shock for MAN and MB when the THW bought Tatras in Germany.
True, but how likely is it that disassembling has to be done?
For the most powerful engines, you need wheels with hub reduction
These swing axles are not your every day swing axle, they are massive
Those rubber covers are extremely flexible, i'm sure they will last very long.

Silly remarks like these tell us more about you than about these cars. However, with a little bit of luck you will learn how a gay man looks when you will get your first gay president in a few years time.
