What do wages have to do with fact, that most of Europe runs 8x4 trucks on 32t gross weight?

Here we go again.
It's also on YT, does that mean he is right?
And that video you posted, is from Bas channel, which (by coincidence) sells those trucks, right?medioker, Oxbow, 98989 and 1 other person Thank this. -
No, but that is not an official Dutch publication.
I have the official publication with sizes and weights as it is published by the RDW. It states that the maximum weight of any kind of truck is 50 tonne. It further states the maximum axle loads. If axles are more then 1.8 metre apart, they are seen as single axles. A single axle may have a maximum load of 10 tonne, but a single driven axle can have a maximum load of 11.5 tonne. With an 8 x 8 truck with wide spread axles, that results in a maximum GVW of 4 x 11.5 tonne = 46 tonne. There's nothing specific to be found on weights for a certain number of axles, like 2, 3, or 4 axles. -

Do I really have to explain that? Suppose a driver has to move 120 tonne of sand to a destination 30 minutes away. If he does that with a truck that can carry 20 tonne of sand, then it will take him 120/20 = 6 hours to do so. If he can do it with a truck that can carry 30 tonne of sand, then it will take him 120/30 = 4 hours. That is 2 hours of wages less with a heavier truck. A heavier truck will also be more fuel efficient, so all in all, a heavier truck is cheaper to run. It's the difference between capex and opex, and very often opex is more important than capex.
Of course it's not true. A big operation like that did actual testing, and decided to go for the cheapest solution, without asking you for advise. -
GBP great britain pound
Or pound sterling
£ to $ is1.3
VAT ,that you get back.
So that is 631 866$ for the Cat.
Use adapted trucks is ..........cheaper?? -
All very true, with one little problem.
This whole heavier trucks, longer trucks, yada yada yada, is good for YT videos, not transport buisness.
If I can get only 32T gross weight, that means I can transport X amount of stuff at once, for rate Y. If I can transport 1,5 times X, I don't get 1,5 times Y. More like 1,25 times Y. Just because of what you said, driver is payed the same amount an hour, truck is not using 1,5 times more fuel, lease is not 1,5 more. And you know what's funny? After some times X doesn't pay Y anymore, X pays like 0,8 of Y. And after even more times 1,5 times X, pays Y.
NO real advantage for transport owner.
So really, from my point of view (a person, which makes money buy moving stuff) I'd rather stick to what we have, no need for longer, heavier trucks. -
How much is real 8X8 dump truck like Caesar loves.......?Humblepie Thanks this.

I have no idea what you are talking about. But it's very simple, when a construction company writes out a tender for moving sand or soil, the transport company with the lowest price will get the order. The transport company with the bigger trucks will be able to offer a lower price. That's why these very big tippers are so popular over here. You see theme everywhere for a good reason.

"My" 8 x 8 trucks are meant for the highway, these 6 x 6 articulated trucks clearly not. In that case trucks like these are more appropriate:
