I have to agree. If the oil meets the requirements and applicable designations the engine manufacturer specifies then what's the problem?

SAR, daf105paccar, Oxbow and 2 others Thank this.

I don't have that many really cold starts here in Tennessee but I'd probably keep a block heater on it if I lived up north.

Everything we service gets 0W-40. Has a temperature range better than 15W-40. I believe its good from -40C to +40C.

I run Delo 5w 40 full synthetic, $22 per gallon, and like Cat I do it primarily for cold starting. I run it in all of our equipment, including pickups.

Edit to add: While we have block heaters on everything, we often have no power source on our job locations.

Intervals are 90 000km or 56 000 miles per Daf instructions which basicly means i do it yearly regardless off miles.(iirc comes to around 1000h)
It does get between 10 to 15 liters off fresh oil in that period as all Daf/Paccar engines use oil.
Oil is Total Rubia 8900 10w40 which is a "semi synthetic" oil.

98989, spsauerland and Oxbow Thank this.

    27.5 l is minimum
    36.5 l is max
    I put around 34l in .

    90 000km interval.
No filter, just add oil when minimum mark is reached.

    Note this is MX11
    The MX13 has bigger sump.

    98989 and haycarter Thank this.
